Gnfshn
Looking for a good set up to swing for steelies - any suggestions appreciated. Thanks
ron4blues
One of the neat things about spey casting is that you have a fairly large range of weights that will work with any given rod. Personal preference has a lot to do with it, and there are several on-line articles on the subject. Scientific Anglers has a chart that serves as a guideline, and shows that anything from 380 grains to 540 grains will work on a 7 weight. I'd choose something in the middle of that range. If you're just starting out with spey techniques, definitely choose a skagit.
Gnfshn
SA has a series with like you say but I did not see the chart - thanks for the feedback. No shortage of choices.
ron4blues
I'm surfing with my phone so can't actually link the URL. Try googling "Scientific Anglers Spey Guidelines" and you should find it.

Craiger
Snowbee has a killer switch line that I use. It is a skagit with a longer front taper. Great for swinging and nymphing. Comes in 50g increments from 200-500. I was using the 400 on my 7wt. As for tips on that line I was just using 10ft poly tips. Craig
