Davidp16
Hello I have a 9ft fly rod and a fly reel and I went out yesterday in my pond and tried out my new setup and once in a while when I do my backhand cast then forward my fly reel falls of into the water, so is there anything I can do to make it not fall out it fits in there perfectly just the back ring slides off on the rod. ron4blues
Is your rod an older one without a threaded lock ring? If so, try several wraps of heavy string behind the ring, with each wrap pushing the ring a bit tighter, then as suggested, secure the string with duct or electrical tape. If there are threads and the ring is backing off, then just a few wraps of tape behing and over the ring should suffice. A few wraps of tape over the reel seat before you put the reel on should also snug things up.
