Long time reader of this web site, I apologize for what I I'M about to say because it does not pertain to fishing. During the controlled deer hunt while hunting the Port Colborne Marsh, I ran across certain people advising me that I need wriitten permission to hunt this area for the following year. Who ever reads this who knows friends or relatives that hunt this area there is no TURKEY HUNTING ALLOWED in the new Year

Nothing against Conservation but I feel the area is large enough to support a Turkey Hunt . I myself enjoyed the area for many years and I feel in another few more years there will be no Hunting Allowed.

Thank you very much for the heads up skybuster.

You have highlighted the need for affiliation with an organized sporting club who is dertermined to prevent stuff like this from happening. I have passed your heads up on to the Port Colbourne Conservation Club and the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters Zone J who were both very surprised but also doubtfull. Never the less they will be looking into this but in the meanwhile at the very least you need to contact these organizations and express your concerns and share any information you may of heard or know.

The PCDCC and OFAH Zone J have been working with the NPCA to open turkey hunting in the hunting areas where it currently does not exist. These gains are being acheived due to the overwhelming success of the turkey programs which they implemented despite the OMNRs reluctance citing a natural population was unacheivable. Proof that all the competant biologists quit the MNR and went to work for the OFAH :Gonefishing:

Skybuster as you see it is in your best interest to support these clubs either by membership or volunteer hours as not only are they the ones who will fight to keep the right to hunt wild turkey, and open new areas to hunting but they are also the ones responsible for bringing the turkeys back in the first place.

This just came from the OFAH:

Yes a permit is required (at no charge) applications can be had by calling

the Authority (905) 788-3135 ext 241.

With regard to turkey hunting on Authority property , I've been working on

this and it is supposed to be resolved.

I'll let you know when it gets straightened around. They are supposed to let

me see the final changes when they are complete.

Sorry it took so long to get back to this.

The NPCA will be allowing hunting in certain areas as always. They will be including wild turkey in most of these areas. Follow the link below to get all the info on the Conservation Areas that host hunting and scroll to the bottom for the applications.

Now I was told on the phone that some people can actually fill these applications in online and submit or E-mail them. There must be a feature that allows for this in the "paid version" of abdobe as these are PDF applications. If your software does not allow you to do this then get moving on it now so they can't say it's in the mail until the seasons end.

Also there is a lottery system for the first 2 weeks of duck season and the winners will be announced in June so hurry on that one for sure.
