Hello Fishermen,

As some of you might know. I am new member to this forum. I am hoping to be able to learn a lot from the many experienced anglers on this forum.

I studied Information Technology in University. I am in the market for an IT job. I tried Workopolis, Monsters, and many other internet job posting sites but can't seem to land a job. With all $$$ and efforts invested into a University education and now no job, it's getting frustrating. I am sure some of you guys work for large companies or possibly for the IT Dept. If your company is in need of an IT person, please let me know. I would be most thankful if someone could help me. As we all know, technology is quick to become obsolete. With that said, I hope some firm out there can make use of my knowledge and training. While on sick leave due to a motor vehicle accident, the bank I worked for fired me.

I am a hard worker. I am highly motivated and drive for new challenges. I work great with people in a team environment. My background consists of 5 yrs of experience work in the financial industry and 5 yrs of combined training and work experience in IT.

I UNDERSTAND THIS IS A FISHING FORUM. I AM SORRY IF I HAVE OFFENDED OR ANNOYED ANYBODY.

Good luck finding work in your field , sometimes you have to find work in other areas .. example: i'm a computer person (net specialist, cert tech,pc specialist) with degrees BUT i can't find what i'm looking for so in the mean time i'm a janitor making $11:75 per hour. How bad is that..

thank god the wife has her own business!! try posting on a job finding club or maybe looking outside your area.Sometimes finding work in a given field can be tough but keep working at it one day it'll pay off!! Hope you find what your looking for...

ICECAP, I've been working in IT since 1999, and at present, I work as a Systems Analyst in London. Unfortunately, the entire market is tough sledding, and it has been for quite some time. I think that a lot of companies were seeking IT staff in the very late 1990s and early 2000 - mostly due to Y2K issues and then with all of the DOTCom Internet Businesses. Finally, I think the trend is beginning to turn around in our favour, slightly. Keep looking on the sites you mentioned, it might seem futile, but you never know - a great position could appear one day. Additionally, take a look at www.knighthunter.com - though it's local to London and area, there have been a few IT related jobs posted. The weekend Globe & Mail might be a good place to check as well, and maybe take a look at some corporate recruiters. At long last, I had an interview before Christmas, and I have been trying to move out of my current job for some time. Keep looking and good luck.

Joe

Should have tried trades, years ago people look down on tradesmen, everyone said "computers is where it's at" no one said " hey, why don't you try a trade like Millwright or HVAC technician, 10 years ago I decided to be come a Millwright , never looked back. Proud of my trade, wouldn't change it for the world.( fact is now I have a cushy desk job and life's pretty easy)
