walleye5 Posted December 7, 2014 Report Share Posted December 7, 2014 great day on the river, good numbers, biggest for us was 7.6 lbs. lots of 5 lb'ers. river is prime now long as the winds don't blow. all fresh fish, yarn, roe and beads in chart, hot orange or pink. back at it tomorrow. Heated rod guides ....... ....some use Vaseline ,applied with a Q-tip , or spray on silicone or use stuff from tackle shops to "grease" the guides .....but none really last long if casting/drifting constantly ...... floatman Posted December 8, 2014 Report Share Posted December 8, 2014 Stanleys Ice off paste is probably the best available. Put it on the night before, ( with a Q-tip), and it will last a couple of hours. Works from about -5C up. Usually only need to do the top 3 or 4 guides. Also do the top of the float, if you use one.
