  1. Nice going Smerch no skunking! I gave a couple of spots around Hamilton Harbor a try today and spoke to a few other carpers out chasing them too but none of us had any luck. I had polarized glasses on and was seeing fish 2ft below the surface in about 10ft of water just minding their own business cruising. Thinking I'll give either Jordan or Martindale a try Friday, they can't have lockjaw forever :)

Even after being an ex-smoker for many years I could feel my throat getting sore today. Reminded me of being at the pub and breathing in second hand smoke as a kid. Hopefully there is some rain in the future to help the situation.

    Stay safe, tight lines.

  2. Hey everyone, I just wanted to give a heads up that ticks seem to be especially plentiful this year. While I don't remember it being this bad in the past, recent years have made me more cautious. Yesterday, when I was at Beaverdams Road, I found multiple ticks on my clothes. Earlier this week, I went for a walk by the water at both Jordan Harbor and Charles Daley Park and discovered two ticks on me - one on the back of my neck and one on my ankle.

I'm curious to know what others are doing to avoid ticks. Are you just using DEET to keep them away?

  3. I wanted to get out today as well since the weather was nice this morning and tomorrow is going to be another scorcher. I just couldn't drag my bones out the house tho. Glad you got out smerch and got something, fall is fast approaching and theres always plenty of fall fatties to go around if you need your carp fix.

I did try eastport drive in Hamilton the other night and there was a few carp cruising but I only had a hour or so and there were a few bumps but no takers. Need to be like a mountain goat tho up and down those rocks when they are biting in that spot.

I wish the water level was higher , other spots are so shallow now.... and I don't relish this July weather (but it may kill off the ticks) !   Good to see you had some action Ty. , I hope it gave you a hard time , they seem to be very scrappy now.   Only one tick ??  Did you use bug spray ?    Maybe they are "toast" already in this heat .....suppose to be 31*C today  (ughhh) ...(rip ticks) !!

I need to re-rig my lines after the workout they endured , drag sticking on my older reel .... I vill be back !    :Gonefishing:

Finally tried Port Weller this week, but maybe too early in the year for that spot as I didn't get even a sniff of life but it's also my first time fishing there. I did bring back to the car a few ticks on my backpack and pants.

Lets hope this beautiful weather kills off a bunch of them!
