It seems like the hummingbird is the one I want. The boat is packed up for the winter so I will keep looking until the spring unless some super deal comes up sooner.

The helix 7 G4 is 100 bucks off from humminbird, they just emailed me, good till the end of the year.

  2. I've always ran Humminbird and has been just fine for Erie.  I have the unit with Mega side and down imaging along with chirp sonar.  I check spots with chirp and switch to the down and chirp screen to verify the chirp is not leading me astray before I try for perch on the bottom.  Honestly getting a unit that is larger will give you the navigation screen and sonar of your choice at the same time.  If you have i pilot it makes it simpler to spot lock and then spot lock again if you drift a bit due to winds or no wind.  Side imaging really hasn't done much for me as it is better in the shallow water.  So great for inland.  I have used it and seen cars laying on the bottom of the welland river.

Sometimes it's a matter of convenience when I gas up my van I have one or two 5 gal. gas cans that I fill up while I'm at that pump . I already have the Sea Foam in to get a good mix . My 30 year old Craftsman snow blower still runs well with the odd plug change .  I 'm no mechanic , but I'm leary that high test gas may run too hot in small engines , or my 4.3 lt van ?  Is there regular ethanol free gas ? I have never checked that out .

I think all fuel was ethanol free at one point in time until we figured out we had all this corn on our hands.  Of course it had lead in it.....

  4. Find yourself a fueling station that has ethanol free fuel.  Ethanol kills small engines.  I run some type of stabilizer even with high test......  Gales, CT stations check the pump.  Costco is also ethanol free (premium) also I think simply gas in welland.

  5. I purchased a spypoint flex (x2) no issues with connection it picks the best network available at the time and monitors this.  I selected them as they are Canadian somewhat.  Great photos 33MP and video if you want it.  This is the low res that you get through the app.  100 pictures a month free.  I'm not trying to sell these but they are good competition for the tactacam.
