  1. Didn’t happen for me. I was only out for a short period and tried a new spot. I think it has lots of potential. I put about 25 pounds of chum in the area. I will give it a shot in the next few days.
  2. Just replaced the net with a 2 ft heavy duty rubber basket.
  3. I see you signed your anchor like an artist signs a painting or a sculpture. Nice touch. Many moons ago I think everyone had an anchor like this….classic and still functional.
  4. Great idea. I am actually replacing the netting with a deep rubber net. I prefer it for when fishing with lures and it also works as a mat when I don’t have one available.
  5. Started the morning at 9:30 using 2 rods with corn. One scented and one plain. Update: 10:00am scented 12.2 pounds 10:55am unscented lost fish 12:30pm done. hope to update soon 😎
  6. If your kayak is a sit on top the law requires only a PDF with a whistle as long as you are wearing it at all times. You don’t require an orange safety kit or anything else.
  7. So I fished an area that was big enough to allow three rods or so I thought. Since the new carp rod rule I have been using 2 rods but decided to load another one up and try three today. What a mess! The right rod went screaming and in seconds was into the middle rod. As I was fighting with this carp my only thought was how long is this going to take me to untangle? About 20 feet from landing this bugger he powered his way far left and caught the left rod. Moving forward I think I will stick with two rods for now.
  8. Good for you Tyler. So is that a 2-0 perfect record?
  9. Happy Canada day NFN friends.
  10. Very windy today. The water ranges from 8 - 25 feet in that area. Those are average size for that water. I have caught much bigger in there but the average is 7-10 pounds.
  11. Was able to get out for a short session this morning. I was able to land a 7.4 lbs and 8.2 lbs. Both fish came on bolt rigs.
  12. Wow congrats Bill. That beats my PB by a long shot. That mama is a clean looking healthy fish that will be waiting for you when she hits 40.
  13. I agree Bill. Looks like a sauger but clearly a walleye. The colours are from changing habitat locations from the spawn probably. Nice fish.
  14. Well done. I was out today and got a few crappies. Let us know when the salmon start and I will take a drive and meet up with you and Tyler.
  15. Did you take the yak out to Dalhousie yet?
  16. I didn’t go out because of the wind. I stayed home and cut the grass instead. I really don’t like fishing in the wind unless I am trolling.
  17. It is considered zone 20 part of Lake Ontario. 2 rods are allowed. If it was zone 16 all the people there fishing for trout are poaching. I checked this out before and it is zone 20 two rods if you are in your boat or kayak
  18. I jig the mouth or the Niagara Bar and prefer this method for this location. The Bar is like a big shelf that holds a smorgasbord for hungry feeding fish. Drifting while presenting a jig, spoon, three way rig with minnows or roe, or anything vertical is the technique most commonly used. But when fishing out on the main lake I think vertical jigging is tough unless you have found some sort of transition point or structure holding fish. Vertical jigging is not a search method but is a great method once you locate them. Again this is only an opinion but works for me.
  19. I am guessing you mean for trout or salmon. If trolling is not an option you are better off casting over jigging. You will cover more water and also have more reaction strikes.
  20. It appears to be public ramps only. All private ramps I checked and called today are open.
  21. Three rods will give me confidence to try baits and scents that I might not try if I was using one rod. Side by side comparison will be fun.
