Dan Pozzobon
Tom Chopin and I fished the event last year and we had a blast. We went out just to fish largemouth bass on the upper Niagara River and landed 35 largemouth between the two of us. Great event for a great cause. Anyone interested in fishing the event will give you a chance to meet alot of the top bass anglers in the Niagara Region.
rick
It sounds like fun. Can anyone just show up and fish this tourny or is it for Bassmasters members only?
Dan Pozzobon
Rick, You do not need to be a member of a Bassmaster club to fish the event. Hope to see you there!

bucketmouthjohnny
It is a live release tourney i believe, is it not guys, so i'm guessing a livewell might be mandatory.
Rich Nagy
Yes, it is a live release tournament. You must have an operational livewell. We have seen some large coolers turned into livewells in the past with aerators. Besides, camping season is over anyways- your wife will never know. Last year, almost $5000.00 was raised for the kids, lets beat it this year! Hope to see all of you Niagara Area anglers out there. Guest Gill Finigan
Got to be a few guys out there that would want to help a good cause and take these guys on as partners. They are willing to pick up the costs. You get to have a fun day on the water and you just might learn a trick or two along the way. Every new angler i fish with helps me learn more. Dan Pozzobon
Just a reminder, 2 weeks and counting until the charity event! Feel free to ask any questions about the event!
spanky
I've got a couple questions actually Are non-member, non-boaters still needed? When will we be paired up with a partner (to know what waters/licenses we'll be in/needing)? what's the "standard" expected from non-boaters paying- we pay entry plus gas? entry only? entry plus half gas? what type of fishing gear is needed- 1 rod? 2 rods? (Reg- put that big smile and urge to say LOTS away ).... never really fished too much of that area so i have no idea I'm sure i'll have more question later
Dan Pozzobon
Spanky, For your first question, I will find out next week exactly how many boaters need non-boaters for the event because we have a cub meeting next Wednesday. I will post the specifics. As soon as I do that, you can contact me and I can get you in contact with a boater so you can discuss where you will be fishing. In terms of money, you can expect to pay 1/2 the entry fee ($30.00 and you will receive a tax receipt from Make a Child Smile Charity) and something for boat gas (usually 1/2 of what the boater uses). Depending on where the boater wants to go, gas money can range from $20.00 to $40.00. So you should bring about $70-80 to be on the safe side (alot cheaper than a charter!). In terms of gear, talk to your boater and find out what type of techniques you will be fishing. If your going to draggin tubes, two medium action spinning rods should be fine. If your boater wants to mix in some largemouth bass into your day, you should also bring a couple of baitcasters for spinnerbaits, pitching and flipping. I have been in the club for a couple of years now and I typically bring 3 spinning and 3 baitcasting outfits nomatter where I go. Take Care! Guest Gill Finigan
LOTS... had to say it I know a few guys from this board and others have said they would like to share a boat with someone and help a good cause and have some fun. I hope a few guys with boats will step up and take advantage of the offers being made and make this event as large as possible. Another good plug in the Niagara News today about the charity event. I believe it was written by that young good looking bucketmouth specialist. Can't think of his name off hand
Guest Gill Finigan
Bump...Only a week to go... I now some guys are still looking for a boating partner for this one... Got to be a few boaters out there that want to support a good cause and help a shore angler take part in this event too.
Guest Gill Finigan
Unless erie is the plan of the day. Get ready for some deep water tube draggin'. I'm sure your partner will fill you in on what types of baits to bring for the water he plans on fishing.
Guest Gill Finigan
Yeah, i've got all the good erie tube colours. Check with your partner first. He might have other plans then draggin' tubes. You might end up pitching for Largies. I love skippin' senkos under overhangs and docks. Seeing the line going sideways and BAM pull that hawg outta there. Now that's fun fishin'
Guest Gill Finigan
Nothing listed. All entry fees go to the charity. Prizes are all donated, not sure what all hasd been donated so far. You can count onsome nice stuff though.
Tom Chopin
The prize table is usually quite good with everything from fishing stuff(e.g.lures, rods, life jackets), gift certificates(e.g.Canadian Tire, restaurants, oil changes), shirts, hats, golfballs, gymbags, etc etc.... Usually the top three get to pick first, then it is a ramdon draw by team to visit the prize table. In the past everyone has gotten something. There will also be free Hot Dogs and pop and possibly pizza. See you guys out there!
radop211
Hey Gill....I'm now officially out of the tourney and I didn't even begin, change of heart I guess Hey Tom....no 4wd ATVs? 1321 Hi tommy. Now we can really see about those fish stories!! 1347 You and the guy's from the club helped me become the fisherman I am today. O yea by the way had a hard time this fall at your special lake. 4.4 was my biggest.
Tom Chopin
4.4 doesn't sound that bad? This year has been a tough one all around. Hopefully the fall smallies will be in soon. And then were on to those trout things...........
Dan Pozzobon
Hi Everyone! As promised I said I would post any boaters looking for non-boater partners. Unfortunately, all the boaters I talked to last night at the meeting had found partners. Members who have been fishing club tournaments all year like to take friends and family members out to this event to show them what this bass fishing obsession is all about. Anyone interested in watching the weigh-in, come on out and see some impressive bags of both largemouth and smallmouth bass! Take Care!
