Guest LockedInTheTrunkOfACar
This duck looked a little dead and flatened when I stumbled by looking for trout. Wait. There was a noise and it moved a little. This would be the reason for laying out like it did.
Dan Andrews
Did she do this after? I had one lead me a 1/4 mile upstream like this before she turned back towards her ducklings. Annoying but what an amazing maternal instinct.
Guest LockedInTheTrunkOfACar
Nopes. None of that. I kneeled down and watched her, she must have deemed me no threat or danger (or liked the camera) and decided to get the ducklings in the water and that was it. smerchly
Mother nature at her finest......there's a reason for the females to blend in with the surroundings & have no bright colours . (except humans ) I like the way the hen killdeer fakes being injured with a broken wing to lead predators away from her nest on the ground......I'll be joining Bigugli shortly at the pond where the herons & beavers roam .......a great place to fish & watch the wild life !
