From time to time we need to update our policies and rules to adjust to the changing nature of forums and the ebb and flow of our membership. We have been growing at a substantial rate.. and with that growth we have been experiencing some unforeseen issues. I think we have addressed them here. As I have updated our rules and policies. We would hope this will please both veteran members and new comers as well This was done as much for you as it was for us. As it also gives the NFN staff rules in which they are to follow, clear cut and dry. So you can expect every moderator and admin to behave in the same fashion. there will be be very few exceptions. Please read over the new rules carefully as they have been in the making for awhile now. By continuing to use Niagarafishing.net you are agreeing to abide by these new rules, they really are not new rules... but something spelled out in black and white so everyone is on the same page, Users and Staff alike. Forum Terms & Rules Let’s keep our rules simple. Be courteous and be respectful to others both here on the forum and down at the pool. If you can’t say it in real life, you probably can’t say it here either, your Mom probably told you, if you have nothing nice to say, then it’s probably best to say nothing at all. Debate is encouraged, but please follow the basic guidelines of debate. No name calling. Back up your claims with proof. Don't get all bent out of shape if/when someone disagrees with you. Things that will not be tolerated here on NFN. Flaming, baiting, name calling, prejudice, racism, sexism, sexual comments and innuendos, swearing, spam etc. Again see the above rules before you post. Deleted or locked posts. If you disagree with a moderators decision to lock or delete a post, send them a Personal Message. DO NOT make a post complaining about it. We have opened the forums to children so we expect you to show them how adults should behave. Spam will get you banned faster than anything else. Spam is any unsolicited business ad or offer. If someone happens to ask about a product or service you may offer, then you are of course free to mention it. If you come in here and spam, you will be given a pretty rude welcome by the population and it will only hurt your business! We have very reasonable ad rates and can set you up very quickly. Contact Tyler0420 for ad rates. We would prefer that you do not post pictures of fish caught out of season. Please do not post VERY SPECIFIC information on fishing spots, ie pinpoint locations and maps. It is our belief that sharing this type of knowledge to the general public is not at all good for the resource itself. When communicating info on spots, please keep it to email or a PM. Please do not post copyrighted material. Please keep your avatars tasteful and not degrading or insulting to any race, sex, religion or political entity. One image in a signature is allowed. Images in signatures must not be greater than 500 pixels wide and 75 pixels in height. Signature images must not be more than 100K in file size. Its OK to have a link to your PERSONAL website in your signature line (no business links) but if you do so it is mandatory to have a prominent link back to www.niagarafishing.net on the site. Should the NFN staff disagree with the content of your website we reserve the right to remove your link. However we do want to promote local bloggers etc. Signatures must also conform to language and content guidelines. Please keep signature lines brief, a line or two of text is fine. No lists! Please post in appropriate categories ie. Hunting posts belongs in the hunting forum, non-fishing related posts belong in the non-fishing forum etc. If you are unsure where a post should go please contact a mod or admin for clarification. Moderators and Administrators will move and/or remove content posted in a incorrect category. We have a group of Administrators and Moderators all here to help you out should you have any questions, ask us! Troublemakers will be warned and then if that doesn't work, placed on a Mod Queue. This means every post you make will need to be approved by a Mod or Admin before it is visible. If being in mod queue doesn't help, offenders will be banned. Posting profanity, (swearing) is not permitted (this includes video)! Neither is the use of creative spelling or intentional misspelling, the use of symbols in place of letters and acronyms to get around the word filters. Offending posts will be deleted! We have children on the site, so behave accordingly. Before posting anything in the classifieds be certain to read the classified rules. All topics in the classified section need to be approved by NFN staff members. Serial sellers will find this a difficult place to conduct business. The classified section is meant for the occasional selling of personal items from one board member to another. We accept no responsibility for any transactions. Get together threads may be requested to be pinned, but no longer than 30 days before the event. AND JUST SO WE ARE CLEAR... these are the terms you agreed to when you registered... However for this to happen the violation would have to be pretty severe and will have to be approved by NFN Administrators. Should a banned user try and circumvent our technology, we reserve the right to press charges of criminal trespass, as well as other charges that have been proven in previous court cases. Do not spam. Spam is nasty and will be deleted without warning. If you own a fishing related company, or any other type of business contact site admin for advertising rates. Repeat spammers will be banned, shackled and humiliated. The following are considered as spam; 1) Posting a business link in a post or signature 2) using a business name in the members display name.
