The_Husky_Jerk
Im trying to find a good 8wt fly reel under $100. I've narrowed it down to these 2. Does anyone have any experience with these reels? Or have any suggestions?
Guest live2fish85
I don't know alot about the reels you mebtioned what I do know, after all kinds of research if you are using it for steelhead you want to have a good drag and for a 100 bucks you really won't find it. Check out the Lamson Konic. It goes for around $150 and it is said to be the best fly reel for under $200. I am going to be putting it on my custom rod. cdnfishguy11
I have the slv ... its a cork drag system ... I have it on my 6 wt bass rod ... it will never land a steelie, the drag is either on or off ... no real middle ground on them You want a clicker style drag instead ... The_Husky_Jerk
You want a clicker style drag instead ... Explain please? Okay I think I get it now... when reading up on the Orvis it said "Clearwater fly reel has a positive click drag knob for consistent settings every time." Is that what you meant? Guest live2fish85
A conical drag system is one of the best. That is ehat the high end drag.use are for fly reels, that is what I have read about. Also that is what the Konic has and it has amazing reviews for a lower end fly reel. Just doesn't have the bling that some reels have.
Dogman
The Clearwater has a stacked Rulon on stainless system. Rulon is used on some of the most expensive reels out there like Hatch.
