The Glen - No Tresspassing At Pebbly Beach?

Alright, so this is OFFICIAL:

OPG, with approval from the NPC has installed 'No Trespassing' signs near Pebbly Beach, however they are there to prevent people from walking up the very steep/dangerous banks onto OPG property. Since the trail basically ends at Pebbly beach, many people don't realize that they have to return by the same trail. Instead, they decide to continue up the banks on 'unmarked' trails. As a result, there have been dozens of incidents in which the police were involved. The signs are located on the left side of the trail (if walking towards the water) which are not blocking access to pebbly beach but will hopefully keep people on the sanctioned trail. As far as we know, these are the only signs that have been installed down there. We are also in the process of having signs made which tell people that the trail is a 'dead end' and they must return the same way.

So to sum it up...there is still 100% access to Pebbly Beach for fishing, hiking, whatever. Just make sure you go back the way you came.

Thanks for the clarification, it seems the OPG has spent 10 million dollars on signs and fencing this year. It's criminal the amount of water accessible areas that have been closed by this corporation, I can understand the need around the hydro plants and dams but so many areas not even near there operations are now posted. It's just plain sad to loose so many fishing areas, and the public pays the bill to close them.

Hey Dave. With an attitude like that I wouldnt be worried about a sign.

I dont have an attitude problem. But when you come in stating that the glen is closed and its going to stay that way.....that causes a problem. If in fact, it was fact you were basing that on then that would be fine....but it was just your thoughts. The Glen is in fact open and is not tresspassing if you access via the proper routes and not climbing down the side of the access road. I have seen police called in for people parking down the hill....thats a problem for all of us. I have no issues with anyone on this site....I just dont like to see things turn ugly and people getting all bent out of shape over hearsay. You outright said that you have paid your tresspassing fines for fishing Niagara waters over the years. All that tells me is no tresspassing means nothing to you?? To me, that means STAY OUT !!!! If people cant read, or dont respect the signs then you deserve everything you get, and not only that.....in the long run, yes they will keep us all out and provide no access. Im not a person with attitude as you suggest....people who know me will know that. I look forward to your fishing reports, your involvement and volunteer work to contribute to a better NFN.

Heh take a ride over the bridge and check out the American side, paved road down the Gorge, handicapped parking AND accessible fishing platform, common sense to the point angler specific signage......right next to the power plant.

When exactly did the Socialist Police Of Canuckistan become the repressive exclusionary Evil Empire again?
