meatface
After my fiancee and I have over wintered a baby squirrel (very long story) I have come to realize how much work and money is involved. Today I ended up with 4 baby raccoons and I know that there is no way I could rear them. Anyways, I found a place called www.urbanwildlifecare.com The woman that runs this place came immediately to pick the babies up and she will rehabilitate and release them. What I found out from her is that it is illegal for anyone to care for wild animals, you must be licensed to do it and on top of that there is zero funding available, so she works full time to support her rehab center. She asked me for absolutely nothing and was very focused on the condition of the animals. Further investigation has shown me that her facility is in desperate need of help http://www.niagarathisweek.com/news/article/1509699--a-good-chance-at-survival . Unfortunately I am not in a financial position that I could be of much assistance to her right now, but I do have the skills and tools to build nesting boxes for her. I am asking if any members out there have any scrap plywood they would be willing to donate so that I could make some boxes for the rehab center. The pieces need to be big enough that I can get usable parts out of them, please check the dimensions found at this web site http://www.squirrel-rehab.org/misc/greysquirrelnestbox.html . Also if anyone else would like to help make some I would love to have some more help. One other thing, they do have a facebook page found here --> https://www.facebook.com/UrbanWildlifeCare?fref=ts After raising just one baby squirrel I have great admiration for this woman who raised 80 last year among other animals. The costs must be staggering. Cheers, Meatface
spiro
Check with home hardware, or some of the local stores that get a lot of shipments. Pallets are great resources for things like this. When I worked for Hewlett Packard we received many pieces of plywood shipping containers that we had to disassemble to get to the shipment
onthemoney
Sport stores that sell ATV's and Snowmobiles are a great place to look.
