Bluegill

Been fishing for panfish off a bridge on Lyon's Creek. Most of the summer has been good fishing catching all kinds of Bluegill , Pumpkinseed, Bass and a few Crappie. Went there earlier this week after the rain and I was surprised to catch nothing. Next 2 nights nothing either. Took a break and went back last night and caught a couple Bluegill and more Rock Bass than ususal. Was wondering where and why all the Bluegill went. Probably go and try again tonight. Been catching and releasing them there all summer long except last week no luck.

Once the vegetation starts dying off in early October, they move on as the food chain shuts down. Smallmouth in the Niagara River do the same thing. Over the years I found that good bass fishing areas in the summer get quiet same time every year. They school up and head for deeper water.
