Bryan
Quick question.. What direction does the Whirlpool spin? can anyone quickly remember?
floatman
It's been known to go both directions. Generally counterclockwise.
midas69er
If the flow over the falls is in full stream, meaning not diverted for hydroelectric purposes the swirling waters create a vortex, or whirlpool in the counterclockwise direction. Then the waters continue their journey to Lake Ontario. If the water flow is low (water is diverted for hydroelectric purposes after 10 p.m. each night) the reversal does not take place; the water merely moves clockwise through the pool and passes to the outlet. Hope this is what you were looking for.
Bryan
Thank you, that's what I am looking for.. It can go in both directions depending on the strength of the river and the hydro plant...
Tyler0420
Good info. I always wanted to know why it travelled in both directions.
