iHasFish
I saw on Paul Castellanos instagram today that he pulled a fresh chrome steelhead out of the Niagara today. Blows my mind. How many of you have heard of them coming up so early?
Catfish
I saw that too. I'm thinking fluke. Maybe it was feeding near the mouth? As far as I know the MNR doesn't stock skamania and I believe NY only has them in the salmon river and oswego(?). Was fishing at the glen today, water's very warm! cplummer
We do get skamania strain onbthe Niagara. Used to be quite a few years ago. Now we only get a few these days.
Snags
I have seen a few in streams in mid-July before ... could never entice them to bite. There are a few areas they will make a run.
dave524
I'm of the opinion it did not come in early but more likely never left in the spring, caught more than a few late May 24th weekend. That makes more sense to me.

jessek
No reason why some wouldn't like to live in the river. The grand has a resident rainbow population.
steellee
Ya over the years chucking small cleos for bass caught lots of bows in July and August. Water is deep an food is there no reason for some not to holdover. Not worth targeting but a nice incidental.

DaveC
A lot of people don't realize the Niagara river is 160ft deep. No reason for any species not to be there at any given time. Like Cliff said, there is a summer run Skamania and Washington strain trout that have been introduced on the US side that more than likely find the way into the Niagara river.
