smerchly
The specks would come down stream to the boy scout camp at Short Hills and into Jackson Flats . We may have crossed paths , but I go back to the early 50's when we roamed those parts . They also stocked Kamloops trout in the 12 Mile system . They thrived and some reached over 10 lbs. as they came upstream in the spring from the Hydro Gen plant at Power Glen .

I only fished the headwaters, above the what is known as Shorthills Park in Effingham and above the Louis Blake Duff estate on the St. John's branch. The stretch behind Patterson's Store in Effingham was one of the best and the Louis Blake Duff estate in St Johns was excellent, they would give you permission if you asked. smerchly
Flyfisher
The Jackson’s flat area up to the power glen had some nice brown trout and Smallmouth. Not sure what’s in there now. Ticks are real bad in there now so I haven’t fished it in a few years.

When we were about 12 years old we fished through large holes in the old "Black Bridge" west of the hydro gen.plant . We pulled up bass with our 5" steel rods ...never had ticks those days . Now there are spots we avoid because there's too many ticks .
