i can't place where it would be on the 12 either... only place i'd figure it to be would be upstream from Glendale... it's not the walking bridge under it, nor the tressel/pipe, not the on at the end of roddman hall, not the meadowvale one... no idea, but it does look familiar...

The walking bridge at Glendale also has huge concrete pilings on each side of the river, and the river is wider with a little less current. It looked like Roddman bridge to me too, but it's not wide enough, and there should be more shrubbery.

I'm thinking it's part of the old canal waterway upstream from Decew, maybe somewhere around Gibson Lake and the waterways around there? *shooting in the dark here*

Hi guys, Dave here (newbie poster) long time lurker on this site.

Seems like no one's going to get this one so I will take the honour for the last (how well?) for 2004.

I believe the photo is of the bailey bridge to the tie up wall upstream of lock 7 Welland Canal on the east side. (used to be called Kellys crossing)

The public cant access this site since July 1 2004 because it is Seaway property and is now subject to port security regulations. The Transportaion Saftey Board has classified the Welland Canal to be a port so these regs must be adhered to according to them.

I enjoy all the of the posters here and have learned lots

Thanks Dave

Sorry Skipper_50 but the Dr was closer. I think he had it but got the name of the road wrong. Here's the full picture.

I used to spend alot of time fishing here getting browns, speckies, rainbows, bass, well you get the picture. Everything but sturgeon. Although there were always no tresspassing signs, no one ever bothered you if in there. I'd wave my rod at the workers there and they'd wave back. All you had to do is pull open the gate and close it behind you.

Unfortunatly there are those who brought litter and cut holes in the fence. I'd always pick up all the trash because I didn't want a great thing spoiled but the fence cutters and then finally vandals ruined it for everyone. Generations from St Kitts have fished there. Now since 911 the security is taken much more seriously.

I accessed this area by appointment only. I was investigating the possibility of a fish barrier. My brainstorm for a fish ladder in Port D brought up some good points and the biggest hurdle was lake run fish displacing or breeding out natural trout in the upper twelve beyond the Power house. I thought the rapids there were too much for the fish to overcome but after my visit it was obvious I was dreaming.

The OPG in charge of enviroment escorted me around the property and even suggested good spots to put a barrier. Funny how the opposition comes from the most unexpected places. This person who is also a member of "Friends of the Twelve" was rather optimistic about the whole idea. This is just another small step in my one man investigation into the ladder idea. Hope some one else jumps on board soon. One more picture of the whole area that smerch dug up from google images.

You can see the bridge near the bottom centre of the picture.

Hey Chills, I would say there are still some sturgeon lurking about the 12 mile creek system , from Martindale on up to that hydro plant . They used to get into the turbine cleanouts from above waters I was told by past employees . Boy would I love to get me hooks into that spot on the point on the other side of that bridge again
