knightfisher
Never used the scarf material I have however used the bait maker for a few years as johnny (dude) mentioned, and tying roe is quick and easy.
DaveC
Pink scarf material works great when the pink bite is on...which happens to be quite often.

JaysonMarion
Don't use spiderwire. It is overpriced and you don't get very much. Goto Fabricland and buy a thing of Elastic Thread for $3. You get like 2000 yards. I bought one 3 years ago and I'm probably just past the halfway mark. And I tie ALOT of bags. heh.
