smerchly
The rescue unit of Niagara has been busy this year at the gorge /whirlpool as well ...... TWICE yesterday at the pool . Did they ever find the body of the 19 year old man who drowned there ? Is it a matter of time before the gorge is fenced ? Those moss covered rocks in the photo are extremely slippery and the current is no match for the best of swimmers ..... Anglers ....take notice too ! https://www.niagarafallsreview.ca/news/niagara-region/2020/09/01/photos-rescuers-busy-at-niagara-river-whirlpool.html

So many people on both sides of the river sitting on rocks along Devils Hole just feet from strong current. Risky business for sure. In the whirlpool area itself (where the chopper is), there is less danger. That photo of the mossy rocks is from btw the whirlpool and the glen area. мормышка
Its best not to go alone there in case something happens. Watch for falling rocks from above too.
Surf and Turf
Yep that current is unforgiving! Back in the 80's during high school, we used to go down to the pool at night, bring a case of beer, have a bonfire and fish till one or two in the morning. Boy those rocks were slippery when the water went down especially wearing Kodiaks!
smerchly
The "mighty Niagara" ..... slippery rocks in the summer , unstable ice banks in the winter . Considering the dangers , we have been fortunate that there has been a relatively low rate of drownings . Most anglers have a cautious respect for that river system .
