These cops don't have confidence in their trade?
cops are no more firearms experts than master mechanics but they use guns and vehicles

Erie and Ontario both fluctuate greatly with wind direction , offshore colder , onshore warmer

MTD makes a lot of different brands, Yards works and Troybuilt are some of them, should be easily found

Forget about pistol, that option is gone thanks to Trudeau

There was a video a while back that showed a heron eating a ground hog in the middle of some field. I could not
believe what I was seeing. Takes away the affinity I have for them to a degree. Thinking they munch on fish and such
is not the case.....
Ducklings are a delicacy

Was the fish still alive Mark ? I've seen herons take a larger fish than that crappie, and sometimes the fish escapes .
Was there cormorants in the area ? They are an eating machine that I've seen take a good size trout down their throat !

Used this stuff as a kid , really worked but they took it off the market along with the 100% DEET stuff, Smerch will remember it https://mhc.andornot.com/en/permalink/artifact15221

Grimsby Tackle had a guy who repaired reels (RIP) and he fixed my very old Stradic 4000 (new bail arm) I bought from John Rasso in Welland ...back in the day...
The reel was fixed very quickly and I bought an ultra light rod for crappie, perch etc. when I picked up the reel .
It's good to have local reel repair/service available to keep cranks turning !
Our small bait & tackle shops are run by people who know their stuff and are willing to help with any questions you have .
John Gadzo , good guy , lived along the lake in Grimsby, left us in 2018

Left hand
then your left eye is your master eye, that is the determining factor , not if you are right or left handed, same as shotgunning

shouldn't pike be going up ditches off the canal and Lake Erie to spawn very shortly ? I recall going pike spearing in a few creeks off the Welland River as a kid in the 60's, think it was early March

I remember that beautiful stream very well . We were about 14 and we biked up the mud road all the way up to the rail tracks where there was a 4 ft. water falls where we caught our 1st little brown which had a nice purplish tinge to them . They would hit worms & grasshoppers and we also used flies like the McGinty in the shallow rapids downstream to Glendale Ave,where there was a nice little spillway and pool before going under the road. There was two spots where the water went under some large timbers & we dropped our lines between them & got some nice browns . What a time we had there .....until they built the new Haulage Rd.for the auto plant where I worked for 30 years !
Here's a snip from the Niagara Navigator maps (1954-55) . The small red dots were pike ponds and yellow spots where we got trout . At the bottom the yellow spot is the 4ft water falls which was close to the CNR tracks . On the right was train trestle where we also got pike using silver spoons .Those were great days !
Thanks , think I would have been around 8 at the time, I caught some Rock Bass on a level wind, bobber and snelled hook with worms, Dad had a spinning outfit with mono, think he used a Mepp's type spinner for the trout.

Just an fyi to anyone in the grimsby area, the debate about firearms discharge in the area is restarting-again.
Personally, i thought they had a great model in the last bylaw, but that was recinded likely due to shooting waterfowl over the lake in close proximity to housing.
A public meeting is scheduled for march 1 from 6-8pm. An online survey is also asking for feedback.
the links are below.

I live not far from the Elizabeth Street pumphouse, they were at least a quarter mile offshore not in close proximity to housing , steel shot could never travel far enough to hit the homes , complete BS . Noise is not an issue , the DNA rifle range with full auto fire is far noisier just down the road near the new development west of Casa Blanca

I recall as a kid the eclipse of the early 60's. It was a Saturday and we were either driving on vacation going north or maybe coming home, no hullabaloo, emergency measures act or any BS like that, got somewhat dark for a couple of minutes , dad might have turned the headlights on, pretty soon it got light again , expect this one much the same as I am staying home with all the craziness out there edit : would have been this one https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solar_eclipse_of_July_20,_1963#:~:text=A total solar eclipse occurred, for a viewer on Earth.
