    Mostly I perch fish or troll for walleye on Lake Erie.

    I have been an eagle/lowrance user. Had a 9500 with LORAN module and currently a 642c/gps. Eagle as a company is no more and my current unit ran into a date issue on the GPS because of Y2K type rollover and no software update because Eagle is no more. It still functions fine except for GPS having the wrong date. I also have a hand held Garmin GPS. I like the live view I see on fishing shows and am thinking I would like to have that. But Garmin? HUmmingbird? Lowrance?

    Thanks all. My current unit (eagle 642c) is probably 20 years old and still working just fine. I have some funds available and thinking I would upgrade but to what is the question.

    It was hot and sunny all day here in Wainfleet on Lake Erie.

    Came back with 10 nice perch. No jumbos, just some decent perch, and 4 sheephead returned. Got blown off the lake at noon.

    Just got back in and it is 73 today.

    A couple of days later the temp was showing as 70ºF. I realize the sun heats the surface. After the wind Thursday it is probably lower now.

    Was out today and the water was showing 76ºF on the fish finder. Looked back at my logs and last year it was only 70ºF on this date.

    Just to be clear the there is no fee to launch. The fee is to park. If you launch and drive the vehicle away, no charge.
