  1. I recently bought a couple stradic 3000XGs, seem like great reels for the couple times I've had them out, never tried the vanford so cant speak to that one. I'm not surprised about the stradic sharing parts with the stella, good to know, that's why I almost never buy the top model of anything

  2. I bought a used helix 7 chirp/gps/di last spring for $600, was a great purchase for me, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed with a helix 7. I really like using the down imaging when ice fishing, but it can drain your battery’s life quickly if you use gps a lot.

Make sure you have good battery power is something else to consider that hasn’t really been mentioned. When I go away camping for a few days and going portable I’m often running out of juice, (using a 12v 7a) I’m contemplating getting a Dakota lithium for a power source, but it is expensive

  3. Crazy, they're on my bucket list for sure. I've only seen one in the wild while portaging moon falls in georgian bay one year, the thing jumped about 4 feet in the air, I was about fifty yards or so away, it was amazing to see. Also good on ya to make sure other anglers know these fish are closed here, no need for things to get messy for anyone.

  4. Awesome stuff, catching a bonefish on the flats is on my bucket list for sure

Are all your flies tied yourself?

When you catch a fish on your own lure you made yourself it’s a totally different kind of satisfaction, the best!!

No I didn’t get my alarm back. That’s what I get for fishing off a dock I wasn’t  suppose to be fishing off. It was probably 8’ deep. I tried with my long  handled salmon net but no luck.

If you have a sonar with down imaging you might be able to spot it and get it back, a few years back I lost a rod at the end of a dock while at nipissing, I parked the boat with my helix 5 overtop of where it sank and I could see it clearly laying on bottom in about 15ft. Next day it was retrieved and I still have it. Good luck
