Guest Rockfish
Just a guess but a "rockfish" ? There are about 100 different kinds, some pretty ones and some real nasty looking ones.

bigugli
Scotia is also great if youknow folks down home . Did some fishing fer cod, pollock, haddock, and mackerel. Did you get a go at handlining a jig. Imagine having to bring 100lb cod up from the floor hand over hand. It was hard enough drawing a 10lb fish by hand. Smitty
ya, handling was cool. actually the fish fought more on the rod than on the hand line. we hooked into a couple pigs that wouldn't come up off the bottom.
bigugli
Going out and travelling is great, but for a reel fishing junkie, nothing beats the thrill of fishing new species and new water. At least you don't need a license for saltwater in Canada. Coastal fishing in the states can get expensive along the East coast.
