knightfisher
Every year I cut this plant/tree to the ground, and every year it springs out of the ground again. This is one years growth. The red jeep is 63 inches high, so I figure this amazing plant grew close to 14 feet so far.

fishstick
Greenius mammothulous weedi erectilius an camparte. Originally a predecessor of the sunflower plant as we know it today. Taken from the 9th century Latin writings, Amorious Gardenius. http://www.latinsubscriptures8AD.com
fishstick
In all seriousness though....I've only seen one type of plant similar to this one, but it grew in bunches on a property down by the marina in NOTL. Although, they had bamboo-like stalks....whereas this one does not seem to be. I know they were from the bamboo family, as we would cut it about halfway down....and 2-3 weeks later, it was right back to where we trimmed it just weeks ago around 6-8 feet high. It is an interesting plant for sure. If not a plant, then a weed on 'roids. Take a leaf to Niagara Nurseries on Reg. Rd 81, about 1 mile past Lakeland Game Meats on your right. (towards Vineland) The guy with the hat and the beard knows his stuff.
knightfisher
Sue the beanstalk story is what I tell the kids when they ask. It's fun watching the people walk by and look. My kitchen faces the street, so I see the people as they go by. Today two kids walking by just stopped and pointed and stared. Later an older lady just stopped in her tracks and looked at it for a good 15 seconds or so. It's enjoyable to see the looks on some of the faces. Makes me smile Nick, the tree is called a Princess tree.
