smerchly
More trees have been toppled locally at Martindale and I've seen the damage they have done at Rennie Park . They put chicken wire around a few trees that the beavers took a bite out of and a few beavers have been killed on the roads at Port Dalhousie . This article in the paper is basically saying let the beavers roam free and a few trees downed is no big deal .....I have to agree with this general view point . http://www.stcatharinesstandard.ca/Article....aspx?e=1574082
Dan Andrews
Why'd they use a chipper to clean up? Just move the tree out of the way and the beaver will clean up. guess he'll have to chew another one down now

If it is a wild area, leave the fallen tree, for the beavers, and habitat for other species.... Whirlpool..
hammercarp
You guys are right. It is kinda silly to call a crew out with a wood chipper when the fur coated wood chipper will take care of it.
bigugli
That's because city types need an artificial environment and ordered world in which to live. God forbid we should provide fod and habitat for wild critters, or allow the wood to decompose naturally and sustain the good earth!
smerchly
In this case the tree fell across a sidewalk which would mean close to the road . If the tree was close to the pond , it could be dragged and left for the beaver to use. In some cases the felled tree is not in a very good spot ,but to the beaver , all spots are the same.......A tree dropped in the middle of Rennie Park would have to be removed for example......
