Perchkeeper
Just wondering if anyone eats perch out of Puslinch Lake? Cause I cut the first few fish that I caught at the lake on the weekend and the meat looked kinda brown, I looked closer and saw these little white dots in the fillets that seemed to be gooey and nasty. Are they worms? Dont think that this is good to eat. Anyone see this before? Are all the fish like that in the lake? Thank you Mikey
bigugli
The little pinworms are absolutely harmless once the flesh is cooked. They are found in most fish living in warmer shallow water. The black spots are a kind of skeletal remains.

After 3 months at sea it was normal to be eating " weevily biscuit, rancid salt pork and maggoty butter or cheese" in the days before refrigeration

Dirks........nancy who ?.......... ......... Rockfish........everything goes in the fish head chowder & it's goooooooooood ! The local perch have very few worms in them but many have the black spots on the skin . Some of the lakes around Madoc or St.John lake near Orillia are full of perch that are loaded with worms . Some are so bad you can see them around the mouth , eyes , dorsal & tail & they go back down the hatch !
