The family and I made the annual trip to the cottage last week and we managed to get a few...

just missed beating the rain there by about 10 mins it was following us all the way from London didn't even take the boat off the trailer until Sunday afternoon

didn't stop me from taking a few casts at the shore before bed where I nailed my 1st fish of the trip, seems I catch this Pike every year on the first night casting from the shore(first fish the last few years have been a pike from the same spot)

Next morning was a very misty and a few passing showers until around noon, finally put the boat in the water but not before netting this pike by jj jr off the beach

fire up the boat and hit some familiar spots, This dock always has something under it, last year it was a nice pike, this year a big fat smallmouth.

First bucket of the week,

by mid week there didn't seem to be many fish in the slop so we changed up a bit and fished weed edges for a while

Doubleheader with the uncle-in-law (Theo) Rock bass on a minnow and sunfish on a 6" crankbait!

Probably the biggest rock bass I've ever caught! smashed a topwater frog

Tuesday, we cracked open the Dora rod for my daughter, 2 casts, 2 fish. I had a real rod in the pick-up for her but the wife thought she would like the Dora rod better

5th cast

6th cast OH YEAH!

P8270823.jpg

slowed down for a bit afterwards a few more small bass and a little pike, went in for a lunch break and hit the water again

Last fish of the trip was another shore pike which crunched a popper

When I was there a few weeks ago, I got one on a scum frog, but a bit smaller than that one. It was an awfully cocky bastard seeing that the lure barely fit in its mouth. The poor thing would have choked to death if it was a real frog.

It was off the rock point at the end of the campground where you took Kara to watch the sun set.

Oh yeah, nice fish too.

Edit: The go to spot looks like right off the beach, judging by the cliffs in the background.

Looks like some great memories for sure and great fishing for sure. You should definatly submit those Bass and to the (ofah) angler awards. You could have tons of certifecates with all those great fish! And that is a monster Rockbass, did you get a measurement, im guessing 12-14 inches!

J.J. You caught one bigger.

About ten years ago you caught a massive rock bass just off a small island to the north end of the lake. It was huge, not record fish huge but I remember you remarking that it was the biggest Rock Bass you had ever seen.

I remember you measuring it before tossing it back in the drink. It was a touch over 12".

You only caught 1 walleye (out of there)? Seriously, I had no idea....

I've never really asked and I know about the pike you catch on a daily basis from the same spot for years in a row. No Walleye??????

Yeah message me, call me or in some way. Contact me... I will tell you where.

But seriously, 1 Walleye after all these years???

I suck and I have caught at least one each trip there. At least, since I have been able to take the boat out myself.

I always caught them by accident. Usually on a windy day drifting the edge of a midlake clump of weeds.

To be honest (nobody else here knows where the hell were talking about so i'll just post it). The edge of the weed bed, in the bay between "Buzzard Point" and the dump with the machete. Drifting toward the bay with the beach for the cottage.
