marktheperchman
Fish brought up from deep depths are usually bleeding inside as their innards are ruptured. Very few will make it. You don't see them floating as their bladders are empty from being punctured. Most die and lay on the bottom. i still say if you reel them up slowly they can survive. Bic4d
I use an Ultra lite Rod & Reel and when I know it's not a monster perch (AKA definite keeper), I try to reel slow as well... And 9 times out of ten the fish will live another day..... If not it's in the cooler...... Bait, I’d say minnows for sure or I’ll also throw an Arkansas artificial minnow (salted or non salted) on a small jig at them, works real well on Simcoe and has on Erie too.......... captnn
Sure as long as their eyes aren't bulged, bladders aren't out and they are not bleeeding inside they should be fine. I go out to catch perch in deep water not release them. If you want to practise catch and release fish in shallower water.
