drsmooth
It's probably too late to stop this. And probably already happens. Pass this around to as many people as possible.. Big Brother is probably already here. It's not surprising this hit the news on a Friday. Also there has been surprisingly little media outcry about it.. If the Government wants to issue a press relase Friday's are the best day to do so. Since most people are distracted by the upcoming weekend... The Canadian Government is watching you — on just about every social-media platform you can imagine. Tweets, public Facebook posts and YouTube videos could soon be subject to round-the-clock scrutiny by the federal government, a procurement document posted this week by Public Works and Government Services Canada suggests. That includes combing through "blogs, micro-blogs, social networking sites including Facebook and Twitter, forums and message boards, http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/feds-to-monitor-social-media-round-the-clock-1.2445224
bigugli
Not surprising, it has been coming for some time. In the words of a couple of senior police instructors "Canadians are just criminals waiting for an excuse to break the law". This attitude permeates through most levels of government
Frank81
I am okay with that, I have nothing to hide, they can monitor everything I do and they will find that I am just a boring outdoors guy who has a passion for other sports and I read lots of sporting & outdoor forums. lol Heck, I've already gave a foreign country (United States government) every piece of info about me and paid them $50.00 to look it over so I can cross our borders or fly within North America with a special micro chipped card, pre approved traveler. captainplanet
Is the government worried about a "Canadian Spring" lol
CLofchik
Is the government worried about a "Canadian Spring" lol More like cracking down on EI collectors heading down south for extended Spring Breaks. Catching actual criminals takes work & costs money. Much better off increasing all that EI surplus to feed into the trough.

Frank81
First and second step, of the let the government tell me what is good for me program.. Also; Just what the Government wants a majority of people to say.. Maybe so, but they are going to do what they want anyways. I was just making a point that I lead a pretty boring life for someone or some company to monitor my online actions.
smerchly
What are they really looking for ? Cyber bulllying , racist remarks , key words like gun , threats , child pornography , selling goods illegally , hate remarks , etc etc. Prospective employers may buy info from them , or use info to fire employees . Technology will be our masters in the future . I heard on the radio today they are experimenting with using drones to deliver goods to us from on line shopping . With Iphone technology we already leave a "cookie" trail for them to check every move (ment) we make . I'm happy I lived in the old school days .
