Frank81
I just heard that too. Glad everyone is okay, call me what you want, but I never trust a 'frozen river therefore will never ride or walk on one.
smerchly
I would think there is lots of ice there now . Some spots we fish locally are over 12" now . Looking at my indoor/outdoor thermometer , it is zero degrees F. out there right now (St.Cath.) brrrrrrrrr ! Maybe some underwater springs in that river ....... captnn
Between the 2 abutments where the train crossed there is a strong current because the river narrows there. Ice is always thin. Years ago 2 boys drowned there. It is the first place to melt in the spring.
canadianfcat
I never liked sledding much past O'Rielly's bridge or going under 50 mph. Blew a belt once at 99 mph and came to a stop under the 24 bridge..Bad spot!! Glad everyone was safe.
bigugli
River ice is never the same as lake ice as there is always current beneath. It is also a softer "white" ice that needs to be treated with a bit more caution and respect
