ron4blues
Apparently there were walleye in Hamilton Harbour many decades ago, but pollution put an end to that. The harbour is in better shape now, and a few years back they stocked the harbour with walleye, resulting in some adults being caught through the ice over this past winter. They don't know if they're spawning yet, but they do know they're surviving.
Brian_b
Interesting; the harbour has improved in recent times. Hopefully they can survive and eventually reproduce there.
Batts77
Cormorants, will have those cleaned up by the weekend. They need to do something about those %#$%ing birds before it gets really outta hand. Theres gotta be at least 1500 of them nesting infront of Sugar Loaf and numerous other locations throughout Southern Ontario.
Bass-turd
Cormorants definitely need to be eliminated....I don't think I hate any species of any animal more then them

gunner-2
Thats what i don't understand why they protect something for so long that they over power every thing. They don't need to be killed off but maybe destroying the eggs would help in the long run they will eat them young fish and all there efforts will just a wast of time
ron4blues
The problem with these (and other birds and animals) that tend to over-run areas surrounded by massive urban build-up, is that there are very few natural predators. Yes we've brought the cormorants back from the brink, but now they're everywhere and there's nothing eating them. The same thing (albeit for different reasons) is happening on the East Coast with seals. We curtailed the hunt, and now there's millions upon millions of them, each eating up to 10 kilos of fish every day. Its what happens when conservationists, preservationists and government get tunnel vision. "Save the _________ (name of species in the blank)" is the battle cry. And full steam ahead without thinking about the long-term ramifications.
river guide
They've been stocking walleye at the hammer for years. I caught my first at that end of the lake this year when fishing Bronte. A respectable 5-6lber.
