  1. With that new subdivision behind Betty's, a lot of drivers are using Stanley to get to Lyons Creek Rd.
  2. Good old Lyons Creek. Right near me. That bridge is a popular spot
  3. The worms go in the beer fridge, Tyler lol
  4. It's for the Fathers Day weekend. They did the same on Moms Day. It just gives new fishers a chance to get out and see if they like it. Lots of other fish in season
  5. There is a mix of types of wheel weights. The stick on ones are pretty soft and flexible. Stop by Royal Auto Parts and ask for Mark. I'll be there tomorrow and maybe Wednesday. I usually only work one or two days a week there
  6. Do you need any lead? I have a couple pails of wheel weights at the shop
  7. Does anyone still fish here in the spring. I haven't been in years but I used to hit some decent days of perch and even the odd rainbow. I noticed they blocked off the piers so you can't drive out to the end but is fishing still allowed before they put the docks in. The gate was open
  8. The ice was already forming when they lowered the levels so the edges will be sketchy and they tend to get that way throughout the winter as the levels will slightly change. As for current its barely noticeable unless you're near certain areas like downtown Welland, the point in Dain City and near ES Fox in Port Robinson.
  9. I didn't get out anywhere near often enough but the best day had to be Family Day weekend ice fishing with my wife, daughters and sons-in-law on the canal. We saw an eagle while we were setting up, the sun shone all day and we caught enough for a good dinner. Good times
  10. They place those trees there as a windbreak for when they're fishing.
  11. I don't see how dumping garbage in there will help. There are lots of spawning sites for bass and good weed lines for pike. Perch dont need structure as they cruise the bottom looking for food. All you're going to do is increase snags.
  12. I don't bleed my perch but I put them in the fridge for at least a day before I clean them (usually because I'm too tired from my day of paddling). There is very little blood and I find them easier to clean.
  13. No. The water there was still stained from recent rain and I've never had luck when it's like that. Fished the north end
  14. Beautiful day. Just waiting for the fish to cooperate. It's been at least a year for me and the canoe so nice to just get out. Found some. 23 keepers almost all caught in an hour.
  15. Yes. That was across the street from the A&W. The buildings were there for awhile after the gun club shut down.
  16. I grew up in Port Colborne and our house backed onto Killaly St. where the Canada Cement Plant was. I fished those quarries as soon as I was old enough to walk there. As a teenager I was gifted a canoe and a friend and I would portage it through the field to get to the quarry. Back then the water was much higher so there were islands and you could paddle under the train tracks to access either quarry. So much excellent structure for largies. On Saturday and Sunday mornings we would fish and then go around picking up all the floating beer bottles from the previous nights parties. My dad would drive the car over and help us return the bottles for pocket change which we would buy more tackle with. Great memories.
