    12 Mile

Thanks Smerch, sure it was decent, but we both know there's bigger in the 12. You're right! I was closer to the bottom of the RBR. Not quite on that concrete platform, on the other side of that at the mouth. I've even had some real good luck with cats on the rbr further up on the stretch that runs along Oakdale just off Moffatt. And yes, roads were messy yesterday LOL

    12 Mile

Got out for a bit last night. Managed one kitten just before I was about to head back. Good ol' Carolina rig and some leftover cut bait from GRO did the trick. This little knarly beast saved me from getting skunked! 🤣 By the way, does anyone know what's up with that big encampment on the 12 by the footbridge over the 406? Does the city do anything about this, or one of those turn a blind eye type of things? There's so much garbage everywhere!
  4. When I was looking for ideas I was searching the YouTubes. Came across this video that said to use duct seal. Looked super easy.
  5. JEEZ! Look at the belly on that pudgy little thing.
  6. That was a good launch. I hope they fix it. My buddy and I were just talking about bringing the kayaks there soon.
  7. Thanks! You are on the nose there about them tasting great. Specs, Perch, Walleye and Crappie are my favorite to eat. Pike are good eats, but for me personally I have to take out all the bones. You lose a lot of meat that way, but I'd rather that then be annoyed while trying to enjoy a meal. Smallies are also an underrated eating fish.
  8. Thanks. Trolling motor and mount work fantastic! I was trying something new with the sonar though. I couldn't make it work so that was a major bummer. I was tried to mount it in-hull with putty. But it didn't get a read through the hull or putty. So back to the scupper it goes until I figure out a better way.

    Tackle

Smerch, the red reel is actually the Ambassador 4000D And those Mitchell reels STILL hold up even today. I have two now. I already mailed the Hula Plopper to my Brother, the spinners will go in the brook trout box and the Rapalas to the pike box.

I'll have to continue being crafty with his gifts since I found out he was giving the gift cards I give him back to me in cards! lol

    Tackle

The terminal tackle alone is a huge win Lol
  12. Thanks! I don't know the lake too well. I was just scouting myself. Take care if you get in a kayak and safety first. Hope you have a good time.
  13. Nice! If you have proper rain gear and you're staying dry then you are already winning haha
  14. Thanks Bubba! They are one of my favorite species to target.
  15. My brother was telling me all he got was pike and walleye LOL but a hard day fishing and he said the rain was brutal.

    Tackle

On my last visit with my dad, he wanted me to go through my old tackle box from when I was a kid. I even forgot what it looked like, so naturally I was super curious to see what I left in there, but my dad turned it into his salmon trolling box. Then he says to me that he wants me to look at this "other" tackle box. He goes on to say that his friend Dave gave it to him because one time Dave was invited to a cottage and he wanted to do some fishing. He said that his friend Dave got all brand new tackle and spent a bunch of money for it to never even be used once. In fact, it looked like he spent more time organizing the tackle than using it. And then... My dad says those magic words any son who has ever spent way too much on fishing gear wants to hear... "take it home". Haha

    Canal pike

Damn right it is! They hit the same lures for the most part.

    Canal pike

Just a simple Jointed Rapala. Minnow color. I was trying with a bucktail, for a bit, but they were liking the slower presentation better I guess.
  19. Spent a night at Guelph Lake Conservation Area. Got the kayak out in the evening. I was close to being skunked if not for the last second LOL. I found a nice shallow bay where one unlucky snot rocket bit my bait (lucky for me). It was a tough evening so I called it shortly after that little guy bit, then I went and got some grub on the fire! oh and I also got an OOS weird looking orange-mutant lookin' bass. The real fun was the next morning after packing up. I hit some smaller streams in search of some Specks "on the way" home and they did NOT disappoint and I had a limit in no time at all!
  20. Spent opener on the canal (late post). Did alright for about 4 hours spent fishing. Got 5 pike and lost one with a couple OOS bass. All C&R.
  21. Nice fish! Has the weather calmed at all? How are you ranking so far?
  22. They are very strict at YVR. I brought home a souvenir for someone and it was an Inukshuk made of stones. They thought I was smuggling rocks from the beach and they emptied all of the contents of my carry-on and I had to sit there organizing everything again so it would fit. It was ridiculous! lol
  23. Thanks! There were areas that needed reinforcing just a tiny bit to get rid of the wiggle. So I cut two pieces of wood and wedged them between the battery and the PVC. Tested it out and it works really well. Takes some getting used to. Other than wanting to take a little off the 2x4, I'd say it's pretty decent.
