Yes heard about this. Very sad news.
  3. That's a great catch!
  4. Now that's a meal! Looks great.
  5. A trailer would be cool. I think this idea could work. Even if it's a simplified version. Worst case, it doesn't work and I go back to doing what I do now. Lol
  6. I'm always looking up ways to make everything easier. Since busting my back, they said I have developed arthritis there. So I personally have to be more careful lifting than the average Joe. I'm already lifting the one side and sliding up. This seemed like it would take most of the load off.
  7. I probably wouldn't do the winch so I'm not too sure about how complicated or expensive it would actually be since I already have the PVC pipe.. This video is just an idea/guide line. This guy went all in with the winch. A truck bed would be super easy!

    Struggle

Thanks! Pike went back to swim another day. Next time I get out I would love to try trolling with some deeper diving baits. They might be moving deeper already. I was actually thinking maybe a float setup wpuld work on those carp. Years ago I used to catch them using floats.

Where ya fishing? The bass can be pesky when fishing for pike sometimes. Let's just say I could have had a couple more pictures to show if they were in season.

Thanks, That would be awesome. To be honest with you, I don't even think I'd be able to pull one of those carp aboard.

    Struggle

Went to the Rec again. This guy had me thinking it was going to be a great day since I caught it early in the day. Turned out to be the first and only pike I would land yesterday. I had a couple follows but they didn't seem to want to commit. I noticed an obscene amount of biiiiiig carp. These things were complete tanks. They looked like submarines cruising trough the water!!! I couldn't believe how huge and how many huge ones I was seeing. Then there were areas where 20 of them were just hanging out near the surface. Just wild! I also had a couple of sheepshead follow up to the kayak. Had me thinking I was targeting the wrong things lol... One of these days I would actually love to spend some time trying with some crayfish or shrimp for them, or even trying for those carp. Side note, put the transducer through the supper again and works like a charm again.

    Canal pike

Sounds like a great topwater bay.
  13. What's the weight restriction on that kayak? (That's the first thing I would look at) After finding that out. Weigh yourself, weigh your normal gear. See what you are left to play with. My Deep Cycle battery is about 60lbs. The mount I made is light, but I'd say around 3lbs. Then the Minnkota is 23lbs (Thats what the box said) You could always also hack the motor and rig it to the back, but then you still would need a good Battery and that might be a lot on the back of a 10ft yak. It really depends on what that kayak is rated for.

    Canal pike

Thanks! I'm thinking of heading out on the Canal again Wednesday to see what the pike are sayin'. In regards to the bass, that's a hard one to navigate sometimes. They hit the same baits that I use for pike and those spinners have caught me a lot of pike in the past. I'd even say they are as reliable as bucktails for pike. The bass are just too aggressive around pike opener... and you'll always have an oops catch while chasing after pike. I just give em a real quick release though.
  15. You shore fishing or from a boat? Any ideas on where you plan to head once you get that license renewed? https://www.huntandfishontario.com/Account/Login?ReturnUrl=%2FSales <--- Follow this link. You can get it all done online now. Cheers, and good luck!
  16. Bucket list fish for me. If i were to ever catch one, it would probably be a fluke since I don't target them. Beauty fish though.

An eel would be a real cool catch. I've never even seen one. Port isn't a place I fish often, but as long as I've been in Niagara, I've been hearing of Port and the whirlpool lol

I appreciate that little bit of history on the area. Always interesting to hear how the area has changed. Did you fish the Jungle when you were a teen?

    12 Mile

That's ridiculous. I'm willing to bet if one of them was coming after me with a knife and I gave them a little spritz with the can, I'd catch an assault charge for protecting myself. 🤦

    12 Mile

Honestly, I'd bet its a huge problem. So I caught the one and I missed a bite. But I wanted to stay as I usually would for cats until after dark... but with all those guys I personally didn't feel safe staying after last light. There were two of us, but even still easily out numbered. Which is a huge bummer because its a problem when locals can't feel safe while fishing. I can't tell you how many times I said to myself "I wish I had the bear spray on me" just in case haha I didn't hear about a stabbing down there though... That's wild. I did see them harassing a man walking his dog and based on that alone I feel like police/city should be doing something about it.
