Merry Christmas gunner stay safe over the holidays.

Fished the lower this morning from 7-11. Good viz. boats catching a few and a couple shore anglers catching. It was cold and hard to keep the eyes cleared and reel from freezing up. Using braid didn’t help. We caught two bows and a brown using bags and corkies.

Ya they look even better in person. At this point I don’t even wanna install them. Maybe just hang them on the wall 😁

Couldn’t pass up the Black Friday sale. Canadian made aluminum tracks. Hopefully no more flex in the rod holders and fish finder and ready for a downrigger.

I’ll have to check the waters out around there. mostly shallow runs no?

If you wanna try getting one on the fly again try the York area I believe fly guys fish there.

If Cali and brantford don’t have fish than neither will Paris. I also think Paris area is closed this time of year and the tribs close Oct 1st right when they start showing up. The timing of the open/closed season is perfect The fish show up when it closes and most leave by the time it opens.

Working in Caledonia this week so stopped by the dam this morning for 10 casts with a charturse Mr twister (walleye). No luck but was talking to a guy that was leaving and he said this years steelie run has been 💩 but the last couple years have been decent. He caught 3 end of September and nothing since.

I can’t wait to fish here. There’s the Bonnechere River that runs though the town we’ll be living by. Hopefully their be some carp in it Not sure of the boundaries of Algonquin park but if it’s hwy60&17 that surround it then I’ll be 15min from the east side of it. the closest town is eganville and from what I see it’s absolutely beautiful.

MNR probably dont but there’s a rod n gun club with a hatchery and two trout streams running through their property so I think they might stock a bit. I could be wrong though gotta look into it more.

Ya no more Great Lake fishing really. Bay of quinte is only 2hrs south so I’ll be venturing there. Lots of lakes around mostly pike walleye bass musky and some lakers. Should be some smaller lakes around stocked with trout. as for hunting gf’s parents bought 13acres plus 4 for us so I might just have 17 acres to hunt before having to look elsewhere. bucket list- shoot a deer/bear from the kayak. Unfortunately no moose around but I’d think there’s some more north.

An adventure it will be. born and raised in brantford and have had 2 jobs in my life. I’m not one for change so this will be a journey.

In 2026 I’ll be moving just south of pembroke. Gf’s parents bought us 4 acres of land so we’re going to build a small cottage/home. I don’t hunt now but I will be when I move there. I know absolutely nothing about hunting,guns,ammunition etc. I know I need licenses/guns etc but where should I start? anyone know what hunting is like around this area? Looks pretty good. Lots of bush and no major developments.

Anyone know why this run blows so much? lack of stocking? lack of suitable spawning tribs? I’m going to contact someone over the winter and get to low down on it. Maybe it’s better than I think. Id like to know if there’s any stocking at all. There might be a very small one but who knows if any is going on these days. I like to donate some time and money to this if that’s even an option. I know trout unlimited does a bunch of work on the tribs where I live so I’m going to help out in 2024. what happened to seeing 30 guys at cali dam fishing and now I see maybe 4-5. This morning no one was there.

That kinda stuff gets my gf all the time. Cherries are the worst. Sometimes $18 a bag. But it only says “6.99”

I don’t think they use spice. The food is very bland and probably low quality. Best food I found was burgers from the bar. im sure Dave knows how to get around a bit more than We did.
