  1. Thanks guys! North of T. O. I was throwing an 8 in paddle tail swim bait with a weighted hook. First time throwing it. Randomly threw it onto a beachy area and it bit on the drop off. Fish weren't on the lumber nor back bays... temps were 55 to 64... lucky catch it felt like!

  2. 20220411_084156.jpgFirst cast in the glen last week and a sturgeon picked it up! Ripped across, broke water and shook its head on the surface. Then it just dove really deep and did whatever it wanted. It stopped a couple times but I couldn't gain any line at all. After a half an hour I was down to just a few feet of line... nothing I could do so I cranked my drag and put my thumb down on the spool and luckily the hook came free and I got everything back. Except the fish! Unbelievable!! First time ever having one on in my life. Luckily the steelhead fishing was good right after that going 4/6 until 10:00 a.m when the water came up like crazy. Won't forget that day!!

I spent the night in a White River motel as I went to the OPP station there to arrange for a chopper rescue for one of our guys who broke his ankle while he and I were taking a moose quarter down a "slippery" slope . They had wall to wall maps there and I pinpointed our camp location at Upper Mace Lake .

That lake was full of beauty splake with awesome speck colours .... wouldn't it be great to have good speck fishing here !

Sounds like you've had an adventure or two there eh Smerchly! Haaa! Good speck fishing here would be amazing, I agree! Been looking a nipigon lately just for laughs. That would be a serious bucket list trip for sure!

  4. I was lucky enough to have a great fishing year this year with multiple personal best catches and a ton of time on the water. The best day for me was finally jumping in a small boat and making my way across the lake after a 12 hr drive and an hour and a half train ride knowing I was in some world class fishing water. Just the feeling of being there and the anticipation was just awesome!!
