Cool Photo: The salamander most likely is a blue spotted sallamader.

Now that's just cruel Bill. How could you even think about plating such a sweet little thing without some sort of dipping sauce?

:worthy:

Okay....I will admit I am very lazy when it comes to looking for info....but I thought using live salamanders was illegal? I'm almost certain it is in Ontario.

Anyone?

OK I've heard that the dusky is a rare species but I've fond them in the natural springs in St.Davids and at my cottage

just North of Huntsville so I"ll have to report that,I may have just found a way to stop them from building all the cottages on the crown land they just sold around our smaller lake to :worthy: . Also I've found lots of different salamanders in the rocks on the hill at Queenston, pretty cool little guys and the kids really like seeing them.Just have to be carefull if you ever decide to "gently" pick one up. Thanks for the pick.

that's just like the ones we find at our trailer sometimes, I thought it was pretty cool the first time, as these where different than the typical ones we used to find as kids in the Niagara area

Dad those look just like my power baits. Hope you didn't eat them.

I'm not squeemish but I could never use a sally for bait. Just too delicate and yes cute.

NOT for eating or for bait ! That picture is just an illustration showing that people from different parts of the world eat things that we would cringe at consuming icon8.gif.....even Fido is table fare in parts of the world . I hope we all treat salamanders with great respect.......not even handle them since they are so delicate & can be damaged very easily . And don't forget , mud puppies must be released alive as well . Some people think they are ugly & kill them .......All creatures have a part to play and we have to respect them and unfortunately , since we humans have overtaken much of their habitat, we have to manage their numbers to a healthy sustainable number .......
