Looking for info on which providers work and which don't out on the lake without roaming to a US carrier. Specifically out of Port Colborne.

Thanks Gil If I go again I'll be launching at Crystal Beach, they have that stupid app pay thing at Colbourne.
It was free till the 15th at colbourne.
Sent an email to Port Colborne about not owning a cell phone and how to pay and this is the response.
If you don’t have a cell phone you can purchase a daily or seasonal boat ramp pass online from home: https://parking.honkmobile.
com/parking . Using this link you can purchase a daily pass in advance for the next day or any future date. I’ve attached a document here for you that shows you how to purchase a daily or seasonal pass in a few easy steps. You can also purchase a pass in the marina office during our office hours which are currently Monday-Friday 8:30am-4:30pm. Beginning the May long weekend, we are typically open 7 days a week from 7am-7pm.

Can you get the security codes through email?
Some can. Some will phone your land line and speak the code. One place will only allow me one phone number on the system and If I'm not at home I can't get the code. So In the summer at the cottage I can't log into that site.
The last one that gave me trouble wanted me to install an app to generate codes and the support desk said the app was not supported on desktops only phone or pads.
@genec What company/plan is that?
What about an actual phone? Where is the best deal on them? I don't have friends upgrading to get their old phone.
-
Revisiting this topic as I have run into some programs that require a cell phone to activate them.
What is the cheapest way to get a phone? I just need minimal data and texting to get the security codes when logging in.
What plans are recommended that work everywhere? I know freedom does not work in an area I attend often(rural Fenwick). I also see my neighbours along north shore Erie walking north down the driveway to get signal.

Bass season is closed. You can't be targeting them. If you catch one while targeting something else like perch or pike you must release it immediately.

I haven't heard 'yellow sallies' anywhere before except from my long gone old fishing partner for yellows and blues on Lake Erie.

Have two emails. One for junk stuff (like forums, subscribing to newsletters, buy//sell sites, etc) and one for legit/admin stuff that's important enough to attach your real name to
Only two. I have 7 or 8.

They are videos not pics. I can see them fine.

Anti homeless benches with bar across the middle so you can't sleep on them.

I did mine online last week and had no issues.

That's a 4 hour round trip drive from Welland. I don't think I want to drive 2 hours each way just to talk about fish finders.

I sent an inquiry to Hummingbird and apparently the Helix 7 can't go with the mega live. I don't know if the Helix 9 will fit well onto my boat.
Time to look deeper into the Garmin units.
-
Can they get past the dam in Dunville?
-
It seems like the hummingbird is the one I want. The boat is packed up for the winter so I will keep looking until the spring unless some super deal comes up sooner.

It is against the law to have a gift card expire in Canada.
-
8 gauge wire seems like way overkill. The specs say the current draw is .8 amps. 8 gauge wire is for 40 amps.
Still studying but the Helix 7 is at the top of the list right now.

I found this review site.
https://fishfinderexperts.com/best-fish-finders/
I will spend some tome this weekend looking at their reviews.

This unit will not be used portable.
My research tells me that the MEGA is the version with live imaging and if I upgrade I think want that feature.
I am trying to compare this unit with the Garmin and Lowrance to see what might be best for me.

The reason I ask is because a lot of my neighbours at the cottage have issues. I see them walking down the driveway trying to get signal. Just wondering if some providers are better out on the lake than others. Especially interested in ones that don't work so I can avoid them.
