He probably had to sleep outside after all the eel snot he had on himself....serves him right...the second I left he couldn't wait to slime his way over to my perch spot ( 5 feet away from where he was standing)๐คฃ...and that's cool Bill that you got a bit of a feed...had a feeling when I threw mine back...I would have kept a couple had I had more time to fish...I'm good to go after work this week pretty much any day

Had the pleasure of meeting up with smerch this morning on the quest to catch a couple toothie critters ...today's tactics pretty simple.....slip float and minnows for bait....I guess he just wanted to show off because first cast as fast as his line could settle....bam got one!.... little while later and up pops the creature from the black lagoon!!!!....after a couple hours and a few missed bites I finally found out what kept stealing my bait...and phew ..skunk off......I ended the day with something that was big enough to break me off as fast as I could say ..hey this one has some weight to it!!!...had to go at that point and get some sleep for work tonight.....always a pleasure over the years Bill... Thanks for spending a great morning

Sounds like a good day out either way.... those bowfins can be pretty scrappy...and can have some cool markings....looks like the pike may have been in a bit of a scrap

I can remember a few times when I was involved with our local conservation clubs as a younger guy in my 30s with your son Bill......as a trustee on the board for our club......the years that I worked with the MNR on the Welland river walleye project that all the old timers always loved when he came and spoke at our meetings and events.....as a trustee at the time for the " tri clubs" sitting in an volunteering at the " fish and game"..here and there, everyone always looked forward to him being there.....another thing you mentioned.....the swills.......always getting together to help raise money to promote kids in the great outdoors........thanks for sharing and starting this thread ole smerchmiester.....ps...., Pike fishing
-

My kid brother is a big Bills fan....likes to tailgate when he has gotten to go to a game....built him this out of an old skid for an herb garden
-
My herb garden last year I made out of an old skid...and assorted other stuff I made for the front garden in the past
-
If you look close..the one little gnome has a fish ( was a surf board)....the bottom is corrugated sign board.....every other supply is from the dollar store...I just painted it all and put it together for the little scene...I make a wildflower garden in my front every year....this was the theme I picked for this season
-
B12....?!.....what?.....I never thought I would see you give up fishing for bingo!!!!!.... I'm shocked...go figure....๐ฑ.....๐ค...... Hopefully you get feeling a bit more up to par...and looking forward to tossing a line with you soon
-
Well sort of "non fishing"....almost every year I make a little theme...wild flower type garden in my front.....so......being a long winter....working straight nights.....and a whole lot of boredom living backwards from the rest of the world......I came up with this year's theme......all built out of stuff from the dollar store along with a bunch of craft type supplies we already had around the house....couple good coats of clear coat then I will be done.....

For sure Bill....shared lots of great adventures stemming back well over 20 years with Cliff.....the specky opener is a tradition he shared with me for a few years...and a great step out from Niagara....we have caught literally a few thousand big trout out of the Niagara over the decades..put derbies on together ect.....so switching tactics with the chance of catching a couple of them pretty natural run beauties and a back road adventure is a great get away........I'm sitting here right now laughing because we both left after pretty much just running in to pay quick......after walking in to check in with the owner.....grubby clothes....messed up wind blown hair.....dirty and fish slimed....and big muddy rubber boots๐๐.....she gave us our combo....opened the door...we had a quick peek in and went back fishing .....so when we got back in the car we both laughed thinking ๐ค what that poor lady must have thought.....only to go back.... actually check the room out.....then go.....o crap... Better take my boots off .....lol
