I don't know the lake too well. I was just scouting myself. Take care if you get in a kayak and safety first. Hope you have a good time.

I'll be heading up there this summer for 5 days. Any pointers/tips?
 
 I'll probably be shore fishing. Might have access to a small kayak, but I don't really have any experience on it.

I wish they were Picards peanuts. I love that place. 

Thought I'd check out a few spots out for when we get nicer weather . I headed to Jordan and walked across the Bailey Bridge to get a shot of the stream and beauty background ....Camera battery was dead !!  The muddy water is still flowing fast and a cormorant was looking for dinner under the bridge . The conservation park gate was open but I headed to the Beacon to check the marina and lake , both clearing up nicely . Then off to CDP where the pond is still muddy and clear lake water was mixing with the pond water since the berm is gone. Then off to Port Dal. where the harbour is still only 1 ft. vis. but Rennie was about 2' vis. The second I got to the shore a carp jumped in front of me !! Then I checked out a spot on the east side where a "stream" exits into the harbour . As I looked into the semi-clear brakish water a pair of 3-4 lb rainbows passed right by my feet ....and my camera was dead !!  
"Oh what a day it was , glory be"  Nice to get out , lots of sunshine and yep , I got me a case of Miller draft to celebrate !   

I've only been hunting turkeys for 4.5 years, but 4 out of those 4.5 I've gotten a bird on opening morning using decoys.
 
I put my hen about 10-15 yards from the field edge looking away from me, I put my Jake a couple feet behind her looking at her. I call until I get a response and then call very sparsely. 
 
 They usually come right into my decoys and start bullying the jake. It's worth it just to see that particular behavior up close.
 
I set myself up a little poorly last year and the Tom came in from a different direction than I was anticipating and ended up right between my decoys, I shot him through the camo netting I had up. He was so focused on bullying my Jake that I probably could have tapped him on the "shoulder".

Erie tracker in port colborne has a decent selection of tackle and gear.
 
 Not quite as much selection as peters or grimsby tackle though.
