  1. Deer sightings are way down where i hunt. I have early trail cam pics of does in rough shape with ribs showing in late summer. It got me wondering if something is going through the herd.
  2. I used to use a deer bleat call. It worked somewhat, but later on i found it was best to just find a good spot down wind, keep quiet and still.
  3. I’m with Darryl on the tactacam reveal. I pay 5 bucks a month and will double that if i get 250 pics and need to. its an easy camera to setup and you can suspend your subscription at the end of hunting season.
  4. I’m looking for the contact info for the local niagara conservation officer. Can anyone provide me with that info?
  5. Same here. My cameras are lighting up with activity the past few days.
  6. Hey smerch, we must have been in the same area at the same time. My wife and i saw those two out in the middle of the open field.
  7. Whoa, thats a beast! He’s got something funky going on with the head gear it seems.
  8. I got out this evening and had a small 8 pointer directly under my stand. Antlers were polished white with no velvet. Seems early for that?
  9. Way to go Dave. Those can be hard to hunt with all the leaves on the trees still. A few more days till deer opener!
  10. Whoa, that last one is a monster!
  11. Thanks for the offer Smerch, but we’re in the downsizing mode right now. trying to make some space. Just seems like a shame to throw these out. I figured someone would enjoy them. ya, its that time of year with the bird bangers. I used to go out to those same fields and practice my wing shooting on the black birds. The good old days!
  12. I’m not sure if this is the right place for this, but here goes. I’ve got 3 years of fur fish and game magazine from 2015 to 2017 that i am giving away, hopefully to a youngster that enjoys reading about outdoors topics. This magazine includes articles about hunting, fishing and trapping. PM me if you’re interested. Pickup required and I’m located in st.catharines.
  13. Its kind of complicated, but here is how it works: everyone is free to buy a buck tag which allows you to use whatever firearm is allowed in the region and season identified for harvest. However, different regions, mostly southern, have different restrictions. Once you buy your deer tag you can then apply for a doe tag based on the the wmu you plan to hunt. If you are drawn in that lottery, you can then still only harvest 1 animal, but it can be either sex. Not drawn? Only buck. Different wmu’s have controlled hunts for shotguns and muzzle loaders. These regions require you to enter a draw for the wmu you want to hunt. If chosen, you can hunt with a firearm, typically shotgun or muzzleloader, during that season. Not drawn? You can’t hunt that season, with that firearm in that area. in all cases, one tag, one animal. in different wmu’s you can purchase additional tags if available. I hope that makes sense.
  14. Oh boy Gene. Not good. i hope they work it out.
  15. Well, how did everyone do in the tag lottery?
  16. thats a nice compact unit. Those bucks are in for big trouble!
  17. Wow David, those are some nice looking bucks. what xbow did you buy?
  18. Hot gluing a seed or a corn kernel to the trap trigger also works good. Gets them to pull on the trap.😎
  19. I realize this post is quite old, but i came across this video that some others might help out.
  20. Just a reminder to the shotgun crowd. The controlled hunt draw is now on and you can enter online until the end of the month. good luck!
