Note to self: crossbow scope is above arrow deck.
Just because you can see the bird in the scope doesnt mean your bolt has a clear path to the target.
Missed the shot at 20 yrds.

Here is the jerky recipe I use - I got it from the OOD magazine web forum many years ago.
I have a 3-rack jerky tray set that I got from Cabela's, and I do it on my 4-burner BBQ (because my wife hates me smelling up the house doing it in the oven), with only one burner on low to medium - takes about 5-6 hours, and I rotate the racks 180 degrees, and bottom to top every 30 minutes to get consistent results.

    Called T-birds jerky
    Ingredients
    - 4 pounds round steak (I do it with turkey or venison)
    - 4 tablespoons onion powder
    - 1 1/3 teaspoons black pepper
    - 1 1/3 teaspoons garlic powder
    - 2 pinches salt
    - 1 teaspoon dry Italian-style salad dressing mix
    - 1 cup Worcestershire sauce
    - 1 cup soy sauce
    - 1 teaspoon hot pepper sauce
    Directions
    1.    Cut meat into strips no thicker than 1/4 inch. In a large bowl, mix together onion powder, pepper, garlic powder, salt and Italian seasoning. Stir in Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce and pepper sauce. Place meat into a container, and combine with marinade. Cover, and refrigerate 24 hours. (i like marinating it for 2days).
    2.    Place oven rack on the highest level. Place aluminum foil on bottom of oven to catch drips. Preheat oven to 150 degrees F (65 degrees C).
    3.    Insert round toothpicks through the tops of the strips of meat, and hang them from the oven rack. Bake in preheated oven for 4 hours, or until dried to desired consistency.

Take your bird breast, marinate with mountain dew for 30-45 minutes, then liberally slather it with mustard. Put it on the bbq until you get the internal temp right and sit back with a cold one and enjoy. Lots of videos on youtube for this recipe. Heres one:

Hey guys, just a reminder to treat your clothes with some tick repellant.
They’re out already but don’t seem to be as bad yet as last year.

I've had my 170 going on 8 years without an issue...a touch of seafood as mentioned in every couple tanks...don't leave bad fuel in it ...change it every month or run it dry same as a small outboard
  12. Thanks

No legal issue with getting the beaver out of there. You can ask the guy that has the registered trapline in the area. He may include your place in his rounds. He may try to charge you, but just know that the price of beav pelts are hot right now, but caster is down.
The beaver is the only animal that creates its own habitat. He’ll try to back the water up to create that habitat and you wont like the result.
pm me if you need options.

I’m with smerchly on this one.
Looks like you have beav’s. If it was me i’d be getting them out of there or you’ll be fixing that road continually.
about the saw, my brother bought a stihl 170 recently. It was a good price and a decent unit but be aware that it is a homeowner saw.
Its not going to put up with continual usage like a commercial unit would. Get yourself about 3 extra blades and keep them sharp and you’ll be happy.

And its not just bad for fishing.
I’m hoping we get a dry spell before turkey opener on the 25th or the fields will be mud bogs.
Haldimand clay no fun to walk thru in wet muddy fields!

I hear ya Bill. I’m the same way, but at the price of that cool looking thing you could probably contract a lawn service for the next 5-6 years and break even. I use an old john deere 160 tractor myself. That thing keeps on going and does a fantastic job.

Just received a notice from the Hunter Ed program that Excalibur has issued a recall notice for their C2 Crank Cocking Aid because of hook breakage.
If anyone uses one of these, you should check the Excalibur website for instructions on replacement of the hooks and cords.

Ive never heard of that type of setting on a cell trail cam.
On a cell cam for sure that would chew up major power and bandwidth and probably not something you would want.

The bushnell non-cell cams have something called field scan that you can setup for a period of time and and interval. During that period it will take a pic every interval. Maybe have a look at that.

Just this forum now but there are members here who are on other forums as well . I checked Port out today , only a few guys fishing on each side of the harbour & cold wind and a little current from the dam . They came from T.O. but they had no action . I left a note clamped to the fence where I found the back pack and talked to a guy who was fishing from the yacht club docks who looked at the back pack since he has fished near some of the trout drifters there but didn't recognize the bag. I grabbed a coffee and no info there .
Bubba , you would know the guy I talked to .... Smokin Joe  😎

Just an update , since I found the bag last Sat. maybe the angler will be back again this Saturday , hoping he shows up again , I don't want to keep any of it .

It was nice to see the_fish_dawg again as well. A long time ago, when he was a teenager, his folks had a trailer up north in the same park as us.

All in all it was a great day - it was cool but the rain held off so alot got done.
