We had a right pleasant day at the NFTS. Lots of people. Even better to see some very familiar, and new, faces during the day. Thank you to all who came out and supported us.

So Santa is real.
merry Christmas Bruce and everyone else on nfn. Stay safe.I don't actually use the "S" name. I prefer Dickens when he refers to "the spirit of Christmas present" or some of the old world names given to the legend. The modern Santa Claus was created by an ad man and an illustrator to make a modern homogenized character for the new world. Borrowing from a number of legends and traditions. Lending itself readily tp marketing and consumerism.

My son bought me the white cleaning table years back. Love the height it sits at. No back strain from bending over. Easy to clean.

You guys go on and on in threads like this about 'keeping the jobs here" while at the same time whining about how much things cost. How much do you think your Rapala knife would cost if it was made in Niagara Falls instead of China? By some union plant no less, where no one makes less than $35 an hour with benefits?
Stuff is made in China because consumers are cheap. Consumers won't buy a Canadian made T-shirt because it's going to cost $45. Instead, they whine about how expensive it is, then rundown to Walmart to buy a Chinese t-shirt for $5 - and think "that's more like it."
There is no free lunch here. If you want to support Canadian manufacturers, and you want people working there to make a fair wage, then stuff HAS to cost more than it does coming from China.
If you want stuff to be cheap, then guess what, it won't be made here.
That's reality. Get used to it.
You are preaching to the wrong people, I think. For one, I am both a farmer and manufacturer. Folks pay through the nose to eat take out crap, but get right niggardly when buying fresh produce. I grow what I eat and what I don't grow, at least is produced on this continent. Want a real farce??? GT doesn't even have to tell you where their own label packaged foods come from. The package will say produced/packaged for GT. Secondly, I have been producing tackle for 20 years. I prefer to buy N American components. Getting harder to do as my suppliers ship their production to Asia or close their doors. A lot of so called Canadian companies have their product manufactured in Asia and still put a great big Maple Leaf on the pkg.

That was a great weekend up at the trailer, even despite the fumes🤢

Thanks . My closest friend from early childhood has been in a 'home' for the last 3 years . I got to visit him once until the c19 restrictions came in . I haven't been able to see him since (not vaxxed) and they have had more outbreaks which are ongoing today . I fear I'll never talk to him again as he slowly loses his memory .What a stinking 3 years we have had to endure and we are now paying a steep price in many ways .
I am the last of 6 guys who hunted and fished together for many years who can still carry on enjoying fishing and the great outdoors . Two are still alive but can't join me again .....I feel very fortunate that I'm still quite healthy and able to enjoy life . ...one day at a time .
I hope to find more info about him , maybe from an obit. from Hamilton or his family .....
Sadly I lost track of Dave a couple of years back. Even then he was having some health issues.
Not likely to find an obit. His relationship with his parents was somewhat stormy, but he was in close contact with his sister.

Gotta shop at local stores and home grown tackle makers. Keep the businesses here alive instead of making Asia richer. Hey Smerchly, Rapala is slowly closing all their plants in Finland. Everybody is moving production to Asia.

Another windy night and high winds today . The gales of November came 'late' as it's December 2 today .
But we did use the snowblowers in November ! Many people didn't have to rake their leaves as the winds cleared their properties
and blew them northward down the street . But I still had 10 large compost bags of maple leaves to pulverize with notta maple
on my property. ( good compost for the dewies )
and no mosquitos.....
Wind just keeps filling our yard. Last Tuesday was a great fishing day. Everything since has sucked.

Had the pleasure of getting out with smerch today after what seems to be forever. We headed out with the thoughts of multi species possibilities for the morning....a bit of floating around some minnows...fishing the bottom...and a bit of bottom bouncing in hopes of a trout a pike a perch or anything else that might bite for that matter...we spent a few hours giving it a go with no success...then I finally pulled one out of a hat. I think the sudden cold snap and weird weather today may have had them turned off a bit.... Let the cold water season begin!!!...lol.. Always a pleasure Bill..thanks for the pick up and the minnows and of course the good company. We will have to get out again soon
What's that grey shite on yer mug Jack??????

Would love to be joining you, but I still have a few thousand more eyes to paint before the weekend is done.

I saw schools of shad out at Pt Robinson yesterday.

We be eating in style right now.

Limited shore access that does not give me a line of sight to fish the ledge. Also a lot easier on the hips if I don't have to climb the slopes.

Nice....had a blast with my daughter last time with the panfish...fast and furious action all afternoon...looks like you guys made out pretty good
Was pure and simple fun. A fish every minute on the line, and a meal's worth to show at the end of the day. THe day after was a perch bite.

I've fished for much of my 60 years in this area..I'm tired of the exploitation and urbanization of our local waters.Starting with the helicopters, then the jet boats,Great wolf lodge. The Niagara river was almost a wilderness setting when I grew up.Don't fish certain sections of the Grand any more because I'm bombarded by rafts and rubber duckies all summer long, courtesy of Grand River Rafting company.Lets develop a new gated community on the shore of Lake Ontario, then put up no parking signs, and remove your right to access..I'm getting tired of the " beat down" of our local waters..The hovercraft route just another annoyance...Can't fight urbanization I guess but IMO we sure haven't planned some of it right..
I hear you. I'm tired of the Toronto invasion. Much more, and I'll leave for the north country before it's too late.

This isn't the first time they've tried running a commuter service from St Catharines to Toronto. All previous efforts were financial failures. Without seeing a real plan with substance to address a number of key issues. I expect a fairly similar result.
