Glad everyone was alright Bruce. Good luck with the cleaning. Fall pannies will be waiting for you.

Everybody had gone to work before the fire started. Neighbour called it in.    The gang at the house is still shook up. Some former tenants have also tried to add to problems with insinuations of arson.

Luckily no one got hurt and the dog was saved too . I hope they find the cause of the fire and the building is repaired soon .

I hope all the tackle can be cleaned up quickly with a good cleaner .

No repairs. Building will be a tear down. Fire originated in the Kitchen/cabana area. Fridge or oven/ electrical fault.

  3. Son's apt building burnt down early this week. Finally got to go in this morning to help Rob sort through what looks salvageable. What it means is I have a small mountain of fishing tackle, jigs, lures, and accessories that need cleaning and drying out. Just add that to the list of chores that is cutting into my fishing time.

Glad you got to get away with the family Bruce.

I definitely liked having a pontoon to fish from last year, but a little too pricey this year.

We go as part of a group with CFN.  We get a fair discount on that week.

It must be nice to fish from the pontooner ...nice seats , canopy , head .....Do you pick a spot and toss out the anchor ?

I have never fished from a pontoon boat . I could go for that trip like that each year for a couple weeks ...looks awesome !

Is there a slot size on the walters Bruce ?

The pontoon is great. Comfortable and easy on the old body. Has a graph. We drift or anchor at various spots.  General size rules of 4 under 18.1" for walleye. 6 pike with 2 over 24". Lots of smallies and perch. Last year we float fished a lot. This year it was dropshotting.

I hope you are feeling better Bruce , I   try to find some shade but when it gets too hot I have to leave and go home . The Gatorade drinks helped refuel my electrolites and gave me some extra zip .  There may be better things to drink other than water .....

A little rain early last night helped cool it down a tad . I made a trip to the Brick to buy a new mattress & upright freezer . It rained only on the north side of St. Paul , no rain here but large puddles at Walmart & 4th Ave ..weird ! But we got some rain early this morning .

Hot weekend ahead ......Think ICE .......    :coldsmiley:

I'm sticking to the navy cure....  Lime juice, salt and a good measure of pusser's.  Cures everything.

Yup nothing you can do about it. Can’t make money sitting at home in AC.

I’d take +40 everyday over the winter.
Today isn’t too bad. There’s a nice breeze and I’ll be in the shade the rest of the day.

Used to do tar and stone industrial roofing back in the late 70's. Bloody brutal work back then. Seen a few pass out on the roof.  I almost passed out on one of the ladders.

Been too hot for me. Heat got to me Monday and Tuesday.  First time in decades. I'm only casting after dark as the temps drop.

Thanks Bruce, I'm not complaining😀 you can keep them, but it is concerning as to why.👍😲

Funny thing is that the area around the farm has seen a rise in the bee population, as well as other beneficial and harmful insects.  Much come as a result of reduced pesticide use on a number of farms.

Hey there Bigug... Give'r eh!!!...all the way from Saskatchemoo-on...teasing us with dinner...been a long time since I had a fresh caught fresh cooked shore lunch with you.....what say you fly us in for dinner?....and being the nice guy I am....I will gratefully save you a whole bunch of work and a sore arm and volunteer to help you put a few on the chopping block free of charge😉

Our visit with the grandkids is almost over. Then it will be a 4 day drive back, with fishing along the way.  I hope.

I can see some big pike in those weeds Bruce ....just lobb in a J -18 .....

Do they have limits on the eyes too ?

    Have a blast !

We've caught a few decent pike, but none in the 40+ category.   Individual lakes can have different limits depending on local populations and fishing pressure. There are 4 lakes within a 1/2 hour.

I hear you Gene ,  we have to watch our spending more closely now as prices go through the roof . All 3 of these stores are within a 3 minute trip for us .

Check out "Small Scale Farms"   There focus is local product.

I forgot about how close you are to that shooting Bruce .  In almost all cases it's  drug related ...

Too many drug  O.D. deaths among our young people .  When I shop after sundown I watch my back putting groceries in the car as carjacking is the new thing happening .

There are a few "drug houses"  in the area and crack heads aplenty.
