I think the 170 was only a couple hundred bucks with a 16 inch bar The 362 I think was 1100 with a 24 inch bar the 462 I think was around 1500 with a 24 inch bar

I've had my 170 going on 8 years without an issue...a touch of seafood as mentioned in every couple tanks...don't leave bad fuel in it ...change it every month or run it dry same as a small outboard

You could see little sharks teeth growing down from his antlers where the double driptine on each side were going to come down the following year. Allowing him to get to the following year made him a King !  Double droptine on both sides.  You will see 8 point bucks showing the tiny little nibs near the end of their antlers when they are about to get to be ten points the following year.  Big deer take time to reach their full potential.  The hardest thing to do is figure out how to hunt those mature ones.  They basically have human survival instincts and are masters at staying away from human activity or contact.  Some of these guys live in the thickest scrub that a person would have a hard time navigating through and only come out at dark.

Ya I know I hunt the same way and have a couple older ones mounted..ya all thickets they came from...I don't even try entering in that crap lol..hunt the outer edge of it

Within the last few years, permission has become much harder to obtain. Many more bowhunters are getting out into the bush which causes the deer population to go into nocturnal mode.  To get a big one, you have to get into the bush well before sunrise and be in a spot somewhere between their feeding spot and their bedding spot.    I call this guy the 15 minute buck because I got him 15 minutes after I climbed into my stand. He was looking for who it was that made the noise in a dead quiet morning.

Forsure. A lot of experts say it is all about the amount of daytime hours in the day.  It could be that, along with the amount of nutrition they receive during the cold months.  We had an excellent winter in Southern Ontario as far as whitetails are concerned. Barely any snow cover to have to dig through to reach high energy food.  One thing is forsure, bucks will have a lot of extra energy in their bodies that will be diverted into their antler growth. Going to have some big antlered deer running around this hunting season.  One thing to remember is, allow the small bucks to live . Try to harvest mature bucks.  Last couple years there have been a few bucks approaching the 200 inch mark.

There are big ones around ...I.only have permission for an 8 acre piece of which there's only half that bush ...they do pass through but this past season was really slow for bigger bucks..a few 8s but nothing like the past 4 or 5years...permission is hard to get..been trying for a while with no luck....

Saw a 10 point walking out in a soya stuble field Feb. 28 with two other bucks that had dropped their antlers.   Was a good healthy year for this guy to be carrying so late in the season.

I find the less intense winter we have the longer they hold...in.my area anyway

Surprisingly, the recoil from one of them isn’t too bad with the muzzle brake and the heavy gun weight.

i read 2 years ago that felt recoil on the shoulder is 57 foot pounds.

my 12 gauge with 3 1/2” shells rates at 68.

Ya those 3 n a halfs kick pretty good...so does my 300 win mag I use for moose

  9. Have not been but I was curious so I checked back in my phone and the earliest I've ever found a shed was February 16th but obviously they could drop much earlier...I feel like it's all based on the health and nutrition of the deers habitat along with how bad the winter has been....I feel like it may be a later drop but....I've had pics of them still holding mid March around niagara

Darryl, ive looked at those shaky rabbit things but always wondered if they work. Whats your experience with them? Do they actually focus their attention?

I don't have too much free time to target the Coyotes but if your hunting from the ground...take a spool of fishing line...tie it off to a coat hanger or type of spring and use any type furry stuffed child's or pet toy from the dollar store and give it small pulls to simulate wounded or dying prey while calling if you don't want to purchase an e caller....can have it any distance just can't pull more than a few inches....can also create a secure base that will not move but I just used a coat hanger...blasted one at 30 yards right in the face with my 12 guage and 00 buck

Ha , I hear you Gene , at 80+ I drive my 97 Astro & 06 Pontiac G6 until I'm gone before they go . I just spent 3 grand to revitalize the G6 for another20 years lol

But they want to force us into going EV so they may eventually increase gas prices sky high .

Funny that we are being penalized for using electricity in our homes . It's called the "global add -justment"

On the news tonight , a recall on Tesla evs  , about 193,000 of them about the auto pilot 'control'

I had a new 91 Sunbird , standard shift 4 cyl . I was surprised at how well it performed during strong winds on the highways  then sold it after 3 years as it was too small for my outdoor activities and bought the 90 Beauville Chevy van which I wish I still had .....

I'm 'out of commission' for a while after having surgery behind my ear to remove a cancer growth , lots of stiches and sore as hell now . I'll have to wait for 2 weeks to get them out . The lady at the hearing aid center spotted the tumor which I thought was a sore spot from my sunglasses arm from cutting it . Head area cancer is so common now , keep that in mind guys as we get lots of sun while fishing ! (and driving)

    Get well soon smerch

  12. I will only use any type of calls for a couple weeks but rattling lightly early season tends to work on younger bucks mostly but I also find that it will work in certain spots better than others..edge of thickets or terrain changes where their view may be compromised at bit and they'll get curious....I've seen some bigger ones come out of the thick stuff and just stand there looking  for a while and then leave..this is where a decoy would work best as well...a doe bleet il use on morning hunts after making a bit of noise getting to my stand but I also walk slow and softly like a deer...so.many Factors can help or lessen your chances really with calling

  13. Coyotes everywhere in 88 and 89a

..this morning before first light I heard a few passing through ..then at 7:30 had one come in and eat apples and I didn't wanna shoot it in hopes of still seeing a deer before 9am...then at 830 another one came through and I had enough at this point so I gave him a shwacker to the throat lol...also is a pic of a 6 pack of coywolfs in 89a...pretty crazy

  14. Ya it's been a rough go for me this season...I was swamped with work and made it out 3 times in October..November 5th I shot a small racked 8 point with a large body but it was a 32 yard shot with my compound...the deer dropped to load its legs  to bound away and nailed him in the front shoulder with an expandable broadhead and got 3 inches penetration...found arrow snapped off and 5 days later got a pic of the deer back on my camera...he's limping now pretty good I hope he makes it...I would've liked to have a couple wintery sits myself in December but not looking good ...pic of wounded buck and one of 3 I'm after...20231127_104917.jpg

  15. I buy a 2 pack of the cheapest brand name cameras on sale with SD cards and hope for the best every year...I.have several muddys,Moultrie, stealth and others mostly 12 or 14 mp ...they do the trick...u have to keep the contacts clean in battery compartment though a little rust corrosion or even spider webs anything...they stop working properly...I use two in every area I scout and find the most dominant trails being used and put them 40 yards apart on opposite sides of the trail....and ya at some point it will all work out the way it should and pattern a certain deer coming past your spot ...but I'm betting it doesn't happen too often...this is canada..we get 1 buck tag by law....u either wait for the one you want or ya shoot your meat deer and be done...get your extra doe tag whatever...but in the u.s...these guys get multiple tags and have giant farms with plenty of huge deer they take inventory of and start their hit list...cameras more valuable then probably...out of the few nicer deer I've shot over the years I didn't have pics of them they just showed up on the property.i like to prolong my season now hunting bigger deer till I get one ..if not by Christmas il shoot anything....to each their own.sorry for the rant! Good luck fellas!
