Ross got a reaction from LostLure in St. John’s Conservation Pond
I frequent St Johns for quick trips after work around bass opener usually but pretty early in the summer it gets pretty sludged up and unfishable until fall.

Chippawa creek conservation area has a pond that’s is chocked full of bluegill and has docks similar to St Johns. The only downside there is you gotta pay to get in and it gets busy on the weekends.

There's some vids to check out on Y.Tube with info on what type is best for fishing .  The better quailty ones are more punture resistant  of course .
This vid answers some questions about them

I've got a personal pontoon inflatable I use. I find it very comfortable to fish creeks and ponds but even deflated if still takes up a lot of space. It hangs off my garage wall when not in use.

Has to be my trip up to Huntsville with my GF and cousin. Stayed at a little cabin on a almost private lake (maybe one or two cottages on it) and caught loads of smallies.

As far as in Niagara goes, I fished the 12 mile for the first time this year with a buddy. Brutal hike in but I had lots of bass action.

Overall nothing special, but I only started fishing seriously last august so it was a good year of learning techniques…

Beauty day to be fishing !  Water is still on the muddy side . I  tried a worm harness with  a yellow blade but no hits. I saw some minnows breaking the surface and gulls going nutzy , so put a drop shot on and used small pieces of worms ...constant bites ...gobies , small perch , one nice white  perch and a small bass . THEN , out of the blue I hooked something LARGER !!!  After a great battle( about 15 seconds) I reel in a NICE walleye !! I don't eat the large ones ,so I carefully released it . It took a 1" piece of worm !

Tonight I rigged up my 7' ultra light rod  and will spend another day having fun with the "pannies"

Ross....  yes it's controlled by the gen . plant at Decew. they can drop the water even lower if need be . Over the years some good spots have trees & branches from beavers cutting trees down . Fishing in the fast current takes practice and can be hard on the tackle box .
Thanks , it was under 10 lbs. but scrappy in the fast current . there are some carp well over 20 lbs . that can easily run 100 yds.of line out . I use 20 lb. mono to get them to turn around in that current .

I should have left earlier today ...got to the 12 Mile about 10 am & the water level was down , but rising as I tossed my line in & set the rod on a big rock . I had to take my bike back to the bank and start over from there .  As the water level gets higher it brings in some mud & weeds . First carp hit hard ,ran out a few ft. of line & got off .  Had a few hard bites and caught 2 carp after 12:30 .  Always fun to fight them in the fast current !

I’ll also add peters is my go to place, I find they have the best selection/knowledge.

I do buy fishing gear online when they don’t have what I’m looking for. I’ll warn you not to buy from American sites. I’ve been hit with fees/duties twice now and it’s brutal.

I got a dashcam about a year ago and I highly recommend it. Only ever had to use it once when someone tried merging into me on Westchester but I couldn’t imagine not having it. Its nice because it’s always recording and just writes over the old footage on the SD card. Also has a parking mode that records when someone bumps the car.

As the population in Niagara is quickly growing, we will see more people using our public areas. More people more pollution. Look at port Dalhousie. Those condos will be filled with wealthy people from the cities. They won’t want people fishing along the piers or near the marinas. If we are not careful we will be losing more shore fishing spots. I agree that the local government needs to hire more people to maintain the parks and waterfront areas. It’s not just fishermen leaving trash behind. Often times it’s picnicers or tourists leaving trash behind. If we want to be able to keep our shore fishing areas then we need to pick up after ourselves and keep those areas clean. Fishermen shouldn’t shoulder the blame for other peoples messes.

I love fishing the US. Been fishing it for probably 6-7 years. I’ve seen more wardens in my time there then my whole lifetime here in Canada. There’s usually garbage cans around that aren’t overflowing. The shotgun shells laying around kinda make you worried, but maybe thats why there’s no garbage around the “trashers” get taken care of.
