Growing up around Mactier and 6 Mile Lake in the 60's, the Massassauga was commonplace.  I regret my uncle had a hand in killing off nests to protect my cousin.  My cousin was a permanent 2 year old. Every critter was a play thing. Snakes, bears, snappers. So every spring the uncle would go around the property blasting snake nests.

Funniest bit I remember about the snakes was watching a group of fool tourists.  They were standing in the middle of the highway with a camera tripod no more than two feet from a coiled Massassauga rattler.  I half hate to admit it, but I was hoping the snake would take a bite.

A 38 second video showing a cop willing to get his feet wet to land a spirited carp for 9 year old .
    Kudos !

Love an X-rap or a Jointed Rapala (Minnow or Perch color). Slow retrieve. I had the best luck on the other side of the lake from the park. There's two launches I only use the smaller one if I'm camping there the night. If I'm just doing a Day visit I'll use the one closer to the dam.

    I have the 120
but I put it in the back of my truck. Pull up to the launch and kick it out the back and when I get back I back the truck up and lift/pull the yak up out of the water into the truck.  Easy for me

if you can’t pick it up out of the water you can cart it to you truck, put the nose up on tailgate and push it in. That’s how I load it from my garage.

107lbs must be with Pdl installed. Take it out for easier lifting. Will save you 10-15lbs probably.

Hi Tyler.  Yes you don't cut your own trails... you pick an access point, enter the area and follow your map... basically going from lake to lake with portages in-between the lakes. Mostly everything is relatively well marked. Portages and campsites. You can make a trip as easy or as hard as you want. Tying your food in a tree... etc... good to research the ins and outs but doable.

Excellent! Love fishing in the backcountry of Algonquin. Good job to the little one.

Of course not where I expected while fishing for crappie.
Also caught a 5 lb carp on my jig, legit in the top lip. Unbuttoned right on shore.
Lots of carp surfacing around me.
    No crappie around.
    Hmmmm.
    🤔

Buddy and I caught 3 pike over the last 24 hours. 2 pups and one near 30 inches. Small ones not pic worthy. The 30 inch crushed the lure and much blood. No pic as a result.

Took my son into northern algonquin for a loop trip. All in we did 30 kms in portages. Fishing was awesome for specks in some of those back lakes. No monsters but good numbers. Proud of the boy, tough as nails.

I didn't even get a sniff on the small pike bucktails. We've had a bit of Rain before Sunday and the water was in fact a bit stained, but I had the day off and figured I'd give it a shot.

Wind game is a whole different ball game in the kayak. I was thankful to have the motor or it would have been a painful paddle back. Luckily ticks aren't an issue on the kayak. Have to watch myself on some hikes though. Maybe when I go to the vets to pick up the next dose of Bravecto for the pooch in June, I ask for a dose for me too?

Did you mean rust remover because I'm a bit rusty on the Pike catching? If thats the case, well shoot... Might have to get some before I head out again lol

It was very windy here this afternoon , very strong SW wind . Some shore spots are good with a SW wind behind you for long casts . Yesterday I stopped to check a small stream for baitfish for about 3 minutes and found my first tick on my arm , looks like we need to careful again . I think he mild winters are helping them to multiply.
Honeyv , there is rust remover at Princess Auto .......
