Dan Andrews got a reaction from honeyv in Trail camming the eclipse!
One of the things I'm looking forward to the eclipse is doing time lapses with my phone and GoPro on the field where I hunt. What I would really like to do though is a time lapse with my trail cam but that option is not there. I think it would be really cool because when it gets to a certain lack of light it goes to IR. I'm almost tempted to go out there and do some raking and trimming just to keep that camera going. I think if everybody else gets disappointed due to clouds and rain or something, the go-to document people will be watching are the time lapses.
Does anybody have a time lapse option on their camera or am I going to have to hook up blade of phragmites on a metronome in front of my trail cam?

You might want to check into using a camera or phone ....I read that using them to directly get a picture of the eclipse could ruin the light receptors in them. I think you have to do a photo with the correct filter.

Ive never heard of that type of setting on a cell trail cam.
On a cell cam for sure that would chew up major power and bandwidth and probably not something you would want.
The bushnell non-cell cams have something called field scan that you can setup for a period of time and and interval. During that period it will take a pic every interval. Maybe have a look at that.

They look like red deer. Couldent see the ear tags that are required on all farmed deer. Someone must have left a gate open. Yikes !

Seems pretty clear at night. I prefer the video over picture though

Cought these baby coyotes on my trail camera which was pointed on my mineral lick pile for deer. Never knew they liked salt as well.

There are big ones around ...I.only have permission for an 8 acre piece of which there's only half that bush ...they do pass through but this past season was really slow for bigger bucks..a few 8s but nothing like the past 4 or 5years...permission is hard to get..been trying for a while with no luck....

Saw a 10 point walking out in a soya stuble field Feb. 28 with two other bucks that had dropped their antlers. Was a good healthy year for this guy to be carrying so late in the season.

Yes ! I had him right behind me while I was up in my tree stand. I first climbed down mt stand and beat up a sapling with one of my antlers and scurried back up. Sat there waiting for a good half hour Nothing ! Turned around to grab something out of my bag and POW ! There he was. He exploded out of there breaking every single deaad branch on those pine trees. Sounded like a freight train getting out of there. One of my buddies ended up getting him the next year. He turned into a double drop on each side.

Tactacams and Spypoint Flex are both great cameras. I haven't seen so many cameras in all the bushes I go into. Cell cameras are everywhere. I would be afraid to have to answer the call of nature for fear of having it posted on facebook. Around where I live, just leave them alone. You will be cought ! Is it really worth the reputation you would receive from the hunting community. Everyone in your hunting area knows each other and once you are labelled, everyone will know your dirty deed. Had one guy take my camera a while back. He knows I know. Bet he never touches another camera. I truly believe in carma ! What goes around comes around. Respect other peoples property !

Dan Andrews got a reaction from honeyv in Elk or deer in St. Catharines?
Yes indeed Lakeland were missing 2 elk as if that afternoon. She said she didn't know why they left because they had 2 young they left behind. With that explanation I asked if she had any wild boar on the property. You know just in case they "decided" to leave also. No pigs there fortunately

No racks, but i found the leftovers from a coyote kill.
is it just me or are they worse this year?

Phragmite grasses have been around a long time. Nothing new in this. Same with loosestrife, polkweed, yellow iris, rock snot, etc... Once established you cannot turn back the clock.

I'm seeing bucks with fresh scabs so I've been out looking but no luck yet. So nice to get out before the ticks do

I had to check the photo I posted of the 'deer' in a field at the back of the hospital . They were only about 500 meters north of Lakeland meats . I live about 1 km. from there
They probably butcher on the premises .....
Lake Land Meat at bottom of map and red dot is where I saw the deer south of the hospital . I haven't seen any since & I drive there often .

They certainly have the light coloured rump patches typical for elk.
Must be game farm escapees.
i just did a google search, and Lakeland Meats (1226 St pPaul St w) states that they have a herd of 20 female red deer/elk hybrid animals…must be 2 of them that escaped.
You should contact them with that video.

Well bought my first set of trail cams from Erie Tracker. A set of Muddy cams 2 for 100. Played around at.home for awhile but it seems like the trigger speed is 10-15 seconds. It's hard to get caught if you try. Once I figured out the angles and that video was the only way to get a decent picture I put them out on some animal highways. After 3 days I returned and saw all the tracks and got excited. Turns out I'm the only one who got filmed. Everything else moves too quick.
If I ever get a decent capture I'll share my first pics here
